IMHO the opposite - I think they maximised it, getting a long run with a belt with the limitations he has is a real achievement.

Yes he had power, but exactly how much is still a matter for debate, as is when it started to go... Parkers got a great chin, far better than anyone Wilder ever knocked out, so was the reason Wilder's power didn't phase him because Wilder's power was starting to go or because it was never quite as much as claimed - or both?

There's so much smoke and mirrors to his whole career it's hard to place him properly and separate the fact from the fiction.

I think his power was legit. He would knock guys into the next dimension with glancing blows.

I didn't see the fight but a loss to Allen or Chisora would pretty much show Wilders true level and I'm talking career level.

He was the dog **** era, the dog **** champion propped up by the corrupt WBC because they were desperate for an american belt holder. He was never on the level of Klitschko, Fury, Joshua, Povetkin, Parker, Ruiz **** even Dillian Whyte would have given him a hiding.

Wilder is finished, it took him a handful of rounds to finish his opponent and we know that he has finished better fighters relatively early before, it's time for him to hang up his gloves...

Exactly I don't understand all this talk of wasted talent.

For how limited Wilder was skill wise for him to have more Heavyweight title defences than fighters like Marciano, Foreman, Usyk, that's an amazing overachiever.

Wilder got the most and then some out of his limited ability.

yeah i gotta agree with this. he played the game. a corrupted game but he still got the most out of it. maybe pushing for the AJ fight instead of the fury fight would have been smarter but besides that he got the most out of it.

Wilder would kick Wardleys ass even the shell he is now.

Chisora I'd actually favor though style wise.

Chisora IMHO would always have had a very good chance of beating him.

Wilder won every round and displayed a solid jab. Finally, after years of backing up, was aggressive again. Scored a couple knockdowns (even one with a left hook), and won every round before the stoppage.

This thread is filled with guys who desperately want to criticize him.

But he dominated at 39 while getting in much needed rounds.

That about sums it up. Your typical tuneup. Nothing more. Nothing less.

The way they are talking, you'd think the opposite.

I’d fight AJ for 100mil. And I’ve never boxed in my life.

Sorry but there were no highlights, a horrible fight mainly due to Herndon being so incredibly fearful. There were opportunities where Wilder dropped his left after jabbing and Herndon occasionally slipped punches and could have countered Wilder but he was just scared sh#tless.
Truly pointless fight for Wilder other than for his confidence I suppose
