Scull was a champion even if he robbed Shishkin and probably one of the most unpopular champion of the last years yeah his style is definetely not for me.

I prefer even Tevin Farmer or Erick Rosa than him.

 

allen has a better resume than brezeale. At least he kod a contender in Browne. Breazeale is just a tough journeyman

 

Bermaine Stiverne. Should have never progressed beyond local pub fights.

 

What's the funniest in this situation is the fact that Stiverne got a shot at the WBC belt fighting Arreola who he already defeated in his last fight. After that he was shut out by Wilder, beat some journeyman and got the shot at the WBC belt again. We Be Clowns are indeed hilarious.

 

Stiverne vs Arreola was a final eliminator which made the winner mandatory challenger to Vitali Klitschko.
Vitali retiring allowed Arreola fight Stiverne again for the vacant belt. Stiverne only got a shot at the belt against Arreola because Vitali retired. What's so funny about that.
Stiverne was underdog against Arreola.

 

What's funny is two low level heavyweight were fighting for the belt which trumped WBC's legitimacy.

 

Just found out that this fight actually occurred in 2013 and so is ineligible. My vote instead goes to Jose Antonio Jimenez, a Colombian gatekeeper who seemingly fluked his way into a title shot in 2016 after beating the aforementioned Chaozhong Xiong (who’s actually a really interesting fighter that I’m gonna make a thread on soon) via SD and then challenged the thoroughly ordinary IBF 105 title-holder Jose Argumedo and got blasted out in 3 rounds.

Yeah there are 1000s of HWs across time could have become world champion in the same circumstances. I don't really think thats true in any other case.

 

I'm pretty sure Bermane Stiverne is still a better WBC Heavyweight Champion than Oleg Maskaev...

Jose Argumedo was not that bad because he beat Katsunari Takayama who is a high level boxer at 105 lbs and he was #2 by The Ring Magazine when he beat him, even if it's the luck.

That's nice to find Jose Antonio Jimenez but he can't not be on this thread because he won a world belt.


But I'm pretty sure some 105 lbs boxers without world belt in the past like Takashi Shiohama or Songkram Porpaoin or Joey Canoy are better than him. Maybe one of the most weakest champion at 105 lbs.

Jimenez never won a title though, where did you get that from? And Argumedo beat Takayama on cuts caused by Argumedo butting both of his eyes. That fight was very close and Takayama always comes on strong to finish, Argumedo got lucky with the call and lucky on the cards. Apart from that sole stunning upset which he won via headbutts and generous judging, his career was thoroughly average.

 

You're right I'm totally agree :

- Jose Antonio Jimenez was never a world champion he beat by split decision Chaozhong Xiong for a IBF eliminator. This make me confused because it was very late and I was tired when I writing the message on the thread.

- Argumedo was a very average champion definetely far from the best 20 world champions of 105 lbs, I see him behind Oswaldo Novoa or Songkram Porpaoin for example. Argumedo was lucky against Katsunari Takayama but he also beat Gabriel Mendoza it's for me his 2nd notables wins in his career.

But it's very interesting peoples forget that before the two Thai champions of 105 lbs Knockout CP Freshmart (Thammanoon Niyomtrong) & Wanheng Meenayothin we have just average world champions at 105 lbs in 2013-2015... (Kosei Tanaka & Kazuto Ioka & Chocolatito moved up very fast and then we had Oswaldo Novoa with the WBC belt, Chaozhong Xiong for the WBA & Argumedo IBF World champion).

Only the WBO was still good in this period with Kosei Tanaka but he moved up too fast at 108 lbs, after with Katsunari Takayama but then we had another average champion who was more skilled than the names that I said Tatsuya Fukuhara.
