It really is a tough one to answer. Can only really judge him off his body of work which is still unblemished regardless of how you view his resume. Hes got a resume of wins which i find some underrated and some overrated. Should he beat Canelo, i think we are talking about a all time great, should he lose to Canelo even at 20lbs over his natural Welterweight build, i think it will still stain his legacy simply for the fact we seen a much smaller Floyd deal with Canelo with such ease albeit a much different version of Canelo and a different weight class altogether but them differences will be irrelevant in the eyes of the public as they will only see it as Floyd beat Canelo and Terence didnt.

3x undisputed.
Beating his biggest Rival of his era in Spence in devastating fashion.
Moving up to Super Middleweight to beat a legend in boxing.
17-0 in World Title fights(Potentially 18) with 14 stoppages.
Plenty of Solid names on his resume, as i said some underrated and some overrated due to timing of their careers.

Taking all this into account, if he was to retire today, 41-0 4 weight world champion 2x undisputed. I think his legacy will be viewed fairly similar to that of Joe Calzaghe. Like Joe, had he started his career 5-10 years earlier, you would imagine he would have fought some greater opponents, the opponents he did fight would have been closer to their primes rather than closer to retirement, vast array of world title fights and defences, but there will always be questions about the resume. Also like Joe, beat everything that was put in front of him.

Thats my take on it anyway, id love to have seen Joe in the Benn/Eubank/Collins/Jones mix leading into the opponents of his era just like i would have liked to have seen Terence in with a blend of early 2000s 2010s Welterweight/Lightweights in Cotto/Hatton/Manny/JMM leading into less battle worn versions of Thurman/Porter/Spence/Brook. And of course, had he been successful, It could very well have been Floyd vs Terence

Besides there's a difference between being at that weight comfortably and ballooning up in 1 day
