Tommy Hearns said he got into boxing because he was bullied as a kid. Willie Pep too.

Did you mean that emoji? Bit more detail here .

Before Bonavena could leave Argentina this time, however, police apprehended him and threw him in jail for aggravated assault on that tourist. Bonavena claimed he simply pushed Norberto Bombicino, an architect, but witnesses told police the fighter harassed a young lady and Bombicino tried to defend her. So Bonavena walloped the man, injuring him badly enough to put him out of work for several months. Bombicino sued for $15,000 and Bonavena was let loose.

I like how you can see the muscle memory and footwork kick in when he throws the punch.

Many years ago I had a friend that had been a professional light heavyweight- nothing special, his record was 6-4 or 6-3-1, something like that. We used to drink at the same place after work, play darts and talk boxing. I was there one evening trying as hard as I could to get the female bartender to show me some favoritism, if you see what I am saying, when a group of young men came in. They were barely old enough to drink, and had been, and one of them was a big kid- maybe 6'3", 6'4", 250 pounds. They started targeting my friend.
He was in his early 40s at the time, dressed neatly with graying hair (I still had color in my hair so this may have been the last time that I was not the white haired guy in the room. I think I was 24 or 25) and they thought that he would be easy. After a while he comes up to me and tells me that he is going outside with them and asks me to make sure that they don't jump him. He let the big kid throw a few punches at him, slipped them all, then hit him with a jab and a left hook and it was all over.

There was a video out a few years back, think it was Rocky Lockridge ( Maybe?) Some street thug tried him at a convience store . You know the typical bully type , the one that would assault a much older , smaller man.
But it didn't go well for him ,Lockridge knocked his ass out!

Love this … Danny Bonaduce has Ray Leonard on his radio show and keeps annoying him to spar to see how long Danny could last … he really pressures him and Ray flattens him …. By favorite part is Ray never even bothering to take off.

Great vid. Surprised Leonard decided to even humor that though, with the risk of getting sued so high.

In 1990 Billy Conn intervened in a robbery at a Pittsburgh convenience store. He confronted the robber, who had just assaulted the store manager, and managed to remove the robber's coat, revealing his identity.

Here's another gem. Don't know if the old guy was ever a boxer but looks like he could have been.
