Ron Lyle killed an old prison friend during a New Year's Eve party at Lyle's home (Jan. 1, 1978). Lyle was arrested on New Year's day.. He was supposed to fight Larry Holmes in March 1978 on ABC. So, Lyle was replaced with Earnie Shavers. Lyle end up getting out of it as it was determined he was defending himself.
Ron Lyle spent time in prison for murder before his pro boxing career. “A maroon brougham” Boogie Nights is one of my favorite movies ever. One of the deleted scenes is him being the hell out of his wife Becky Barnett.
It’s actually merlot. (Yes, I know he says maroon but then Jamie Foxx corrects him.) “The merlot Brougham … it’s a fine automobile, but nothing like a Rolls Royce.” I often quote the end of this scene when the Jeff Goldblum character says: “You know what my father told me? Laugh, and the whole world laughs with you. Cry, and I’ll give you something to cry about you little *******. That’s what my father told me.” People have interesting reactions when I say it, haha. I just leave it out there without explanation. This content is protected
Tim Harris, early Julian Jackson opponent who took a bunch of punishment but never touched the canvas. Eventually the referee stopped the bout in the eighth. Harris went on to shoot his wife's divorce attorney, whom he blamed for his financial problems.
Paul Molitor, Steve Molitor s older brother. Canadian ex champion Steve was a great pro... Older brother Paul was even better according to the good old eyeball test, had more promise, the crap kickings that younger bro Steven took from Paul in sparring were tougher than the fights "Canadian kid" fought in the pros... Unfortunately Paul murdered his ex-girlfriend. It is something they the two brothers don't talk about much these days. Stevie used to take the commute to go see Pauly, a sad story and a waste of potential and talent.
Not a boxer, but Don King. Ive read lots of boxers, genuinely tough, hard men, found him a rather terrifying character.
The idea that you associate murder with boxing is untasteful. Your next post should be boxers that were murdered... nevermind i lost count.
So let’s not speak of things that actually happened? The fact that a significant number of boxers have committed murder or other violent crimes is what is distasteful. I associate murderers with murder. That’s what we’re talking about here. It’s a boxing forum so I’m limiting the topic to boxers who committed murder. You should make the other thread. There’s been a lot of boxers murdered so it would be an interesting discussion.
A meta-analysis of incarcerated populations found approximately 60% had sustained at least one TBI, with some studies reporting rates up to 87% csgjusticecenter.org+14concept.paloaltou.edu+14compassionprisonproject.org+14. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) notes a broad range—25% to 87%—of inmates report a head injury or TBI compared to about 8.5% in the general population
For a second, I was thinking of the HOF baseball player and wondering why I didn’t know he was a murderer.
Your right its not distasteful its actually common for boxers commit violence or become a victim of violence outside the ring. I was faded last night celebrating the 4th and don't remember posting that. A couple of years ago I read up on murdered boxers and there's hundreds of them. I made this video and added a few of those boxers. This content is protected
