Mine would go something like this:

    1. Sugar Ray Robinson: Precision of Joe Louis, the power of Joe Frazier and the quickness of Roy Jones Jr, easily the best imho.

    2. Roy Jones Jr: fastest left hook ever, third most precise behind SRR and Louis but he was very versatile with it, i really liked the jab - left hook to the liver feint he used against James Toney

    3. Joe Louis: most precise, intelligent and technical left hook the heavyweight divison has ever seen, one could even say it has an argument to be the fastest one too

    4. Joe Frazier: a little notch behind Joe Louis, just a tad bit behind him because it lacked versatility

    5. Jose Napoles: VEEERY smooth with it against Curtis Cokes, a joy to watch really, looks like he's painting something on a canvas

    HM'S: Bob Foster, Trinidad, Donaire

Nice list, but where is my man Henry Cooper????

The left hook that floored Ali and made him dance "the drunk mambo" while gulping smelling salts, should be topping the list IMO.

Glad to see Foster in there. Absolutely no doubt in my mind that he's top 5.

Cooney dropped a few guys with left hooks to the body. Other fighters have better left hooks but I particularly think of Cooney when the left hook is mentioned

The list is vast. Arguello, Cuevas, Zarate, Zamora, Chavez, Zale etc etc etc were all filthy hookers.

I think the most interesting thing is that good hookers can and do come in all shapes and sizes. You can talk, lanky and fast and have a brutal left hook (Foster/Robi); you can short, squat and powerful with an equally brutal left hook (Olivares/Tyson); you can an absolute unit, tall and broad for your weight with a great left hook (Wlad/Donaire).

Imo, it's arguably the second most versatile punch, after the jab.

True all that. Right hands come in all shapes and sizes as well. Tyson/Wilder, Hearns/Valdez, Arguello/Rosario.

I probably could have mentioned Wilfredo Gomez earlier. His right hand was more renowned but he had a helluva left hook too.

It's funny how a guy like Duran is often overlooked in such requests. Is it because he was so well balanced, offensively? His right hand overshadows his left hook? He certainly had a brilliant hook and he threw it upstairs and downstairs.

Mickey Walker had a superb left hook. Probably the most vicious left hook I've ever seen:

Nonito Donaire's left hook proves that there is, in fact, an off switch for the human brain:

Chavez beat up a lot of fighters with that left hook which he loved to butcher livers with:

Jhonny Gonzalez deserves a shout-out, had a lovely left hook which had a beautiful arc to it with how he'd open it up and make it look like it was going downstairs only to bring it up top:

And Danny Garcia, while not having the most technically sound left hook does generate absurd amounts of power with it:
