"El Zurdo" stayed in close and made it rough. "The Boss" caught him with some counter 1-2s but couldn't get full snap on them while being crowded.

 

29-28 Jiménez, ducking under that long jab and hitting the long torso in bunches, making the fight.

 

Canal seems totally befuddled as to how to deal with a guy that won't stay away from him. Clinching only slows him for so long and he won't stay at range for Canal to get the jab flowing effectively. Lots of missed right hands over the head of a ducking Jiménez and then shocked deer in the headlight expressions on Canal's face as he gets hit with body shots and uppercuts before leaning his weight down on Jiménez to smother him.

Canal starting to quicken his pace stepping away so that he now has room to get off with his rangy 1-2. Better from the upstate New Yorker. Jiménez is warned for holding and kidney-punching. Canal putting together combinations now, mostly just twos but peppering in some hooks as well. Lots of rough shaking clinches. Ref has his hands full. Miraculously no headbutts yet in this orthodox vs. southpaw match-up despite slamming together repeatedly. Canal now starting some of his attacks with a short hook, working well for him.

People in the FB live chat have it the same, 48-47 Jiménez, or the same score for Canal. Close fight at the halfway point.

 

Canal went down early in R6, but it was a slip on a wet spot (commentators say water dripped off Jiménez after he returned from his corner) on the center ring logo.

Regardless, it lit a fire under Jiménez to launch a sustained assault with renewed vigor.

 

Bryan put it on him that round.

Ref scuffing away the wet spot with the sole of his shoes. Yeah sure, that's better than event staff toweling it down, why not.
