Joe Goodall who won the WBA Oceania HW in April has re-entered the WBA HW rankings as No 15.Big Joe always tries and hoping he gets a big payday on one of the big HW cards .

Congrats to our three medalists from the World Boxing Cup in Kazakhstan that finished tonight:

to Eseta Flint in the Women's Light Heavyweight division. She beat opponents from Canada, Uzbekistan & India to take top spot on the podium. Tremendous build for a fighter in that weight division. Has very good physical strength & athleticism. Got the jab out there regularly & put a decent right hand behind it when needed.

to Lekeisha Pergoliti at Light Middleweight. Faced a Kazakh in the final. Was all square on three scorecards after two. I thought she had the better of the last round but it went to the Kazakh fighting in front of the home crowd. Beat opponents from Canada, Turkey & Germany on the way through the tournament.

Both women are great chances for an historic

medal at the World Championships in September. That shelf on the Australian boxing trophy cabinet (bling box) has been bare for a long time. Hoping to hear the national anthem for the first time in that tournament this year.

to Omer Izaz in the Flyweight division. Only one of our blokes who managed to win a fight over there (officially). As mentioned in a previous post, we had a couple of hard luck stories earlier in the week. We've got Callum Peters to add to the men's team before the world championships which should strengthen our medal chances.

Barry Michael has released an autobiography titled 'The Last Man Standing.'

Like him or hate him, this looks like an excellent read and from the promos, there are some good reveals in this one.

David Nyika has moved up to heavyweight.

Fighting on July 16th against a guy he should absolutely destroy.

Who has he got now? Last I heard it was Charalampous. He’s certainly got the frame to go to Heavyweight. Probably the biggest Cruiser I’ve ever seen. Making 200lbs must’ve been a struggle.

Nyika's heavyweight opponent is 26-3-2 fellow Kiwi Nikolas Charalampous, from what I've heard.

Right, well Nik is certainly a Cruiser. Perhaps they’re contesting the fight in the Heavyweight division. Makes sense if no titles are on the line. Nik is only around 5’11 or so from memory.

I think it was made at a catchweight for Charalampous' benefit as he's been fighting at heavyweight for over a year & the 6 week fight announcement.

I assumed his last fight was at Cruiser. Obviously not. I hope his corner have the towel ready. Nyika shouldn’t have any issues and Nik is a tough customer.

I agree that Nyika shouldn't have any issues. This is a confidence builder to shake off any lasting effects from the Opetaia KO and Nik's chin is decent so he might give Nyika some rounds.
