Yeah sure but that’s pretty much losing an amateur fight, not really anything to think about when evaluating JD a big nothing.

LOL @mcvey bringing up Ernie Terrell might’ve meant something if he didn’t just walk forward the whole fight with his hands up and holding… have you seen the fight? - the great jabber of the time landed his best punches (much like Foreman vs Ali…) flailing in the clinch like a mad amateur.

McBride versus Wepner. My gosh, what an ugly fight that would be...

I saw the fight when it happened.
Terrell was the number 1 contender he hadnt been beaten in5 years and among his wins were.
    Jones no 8
    Chuvalo no3
    Machen no 9
    Folley no5
    Williams
    Lincoln
    Zech
    Foster

“I saw it at a time” does not change what’s on the film. I wonder what those guys would be rated at HW in other eras? Best guy there is… Machen LOL - go on, tell me about the technical aspects of this great jabber, particularly in regards to the Ali fight… or do you just quote newspapers?

Yep Terrell fought such a weird fight and strangely he was actually having success with it for a bit..........

Bonavena and Ellis weren't bums. The latter went pretty far under the right tutelage.

Whatever you think of Terrell he was the second best heavyweight in the world for 2 straight years and rated
    No3 in 63
    No3 in 64
    No10 in 67
The fact that he could do nothing with Ali says more about Ali's talents than Terrell's lack of them.
I have about 80 fights on film.
Including Terrell sparring with Liston and Ali.

And there was me thinking Ali's superlative speed had something to do with his success !

lol Ernie Terrell was not a good fighter in the grand scheme of things… the fight against Ali was a horrendous effort, you’d be shockingly mistaken to think that, that was a great jabber of his time PLEASS I’d love to hear you break down why you think he was some jabber? You are willing to say the newspapers say so but how about you? - Again watching the Ali fight? Why was Terrell usually successful? Please tell me of the great Ernie Terrell.
