    Hmm.....ok you do make a convincing argument.Fair Point.However I would still favour
Mr Liston to get the job done.

Terrell is a dirty figher. He holds and hits. Ali held a lot, but he never ever held and hit. Terell also rabbit punches.

Even aging Langford is better than anyone Martin beat, and Dillon was, too.
Unlike Liston, Dempsey lost in 4 rnds newspaper decision and then Dempsey knocked him out in the rematch, unlike Liston in both cases, who lost and lost by KO.

Only you behave like a child, you claimed stupid things multiple times, and yet you never had a valid argument to prove your point.

Prime Liston not at all, but Liston, who lost against Martin and had an exhausting battle with Wepner, will lose against McBride.

Yes, I believe Sonny Liston could have beaten all of Louis’s opponents. But could he replicate 26 title fight wins over an 11.5 year period ? Doubtful because his age and short prime wouldn’t permit it

One of the arguments I see made is that Ali fans want to take his 60s attributes like uncanny speed of foot and reflexes and merge them with his 70s toughness and guile. The thing is he was still getting better when he was banned from boxing and could have had his 60s and 70s attributes.

Against McBride, I agree Sonny edges past him. Wouldn't wager much on it, though.

Could be, but that wouldn't be the Ali of history that we see on film. It would be an imaginary Ali that we extrapolate based on how we think he should have developed. I've never seen that Ali fight.

Also, I think he was showing (slight, but increasing) signs of what would eventually become his Parkinsons throughout his comeback. I don't know how much of a factor that would have been on a hypothetical '69 Ali. He was never going to become the ideal blend of athleticism and skill because he had an expiration date, but it's possible he would have put it all together by 1969 without much physical degradation.

Well I still think that the middle-aged Liston still whips McBride, despite the fact that
    McBride defeated Tyson !

What ' both ' cases are you referring to ?
We are not discussing the undoubted greatness of Sam Langford.
It's your extremely dubious claim that Meehan was superior to Leotis Martin that
    is the issue.

I don't really hold it against Dempsey that he lost to Willie Meehan, who was notoriously difficult to beat over 4 rounds. But Dempsey lost to him twice by official decisions, not newspaper, and he never knocked Meehan out in five attempts.

You seem to think it matters a great deal otherwise why do you keep trying? and that’s okay but personally I think all it says is Meehan is better at 4 rders.
