Oh no, don't get it twisted. Floyd is dumb. Like, he'd wear a bike helmet in order to swim dumb. That's why it worked.

He wasn't pretending to be dumb. The magic is, he is dumb, and people gave him a billion dollars for it.

He’s intelligent in a way that effects the real world, you can philosophise things and be smart with no money, no legacy and no skills but he made it. boxing is its own smarts like chess… nobody is saying he’s Aristotle but in the boxing business even outside the ring you need a cunning and a type of smarts. He’s no dummy even if he’s supposedly illiterate also a better guy than credited.
