Who are some names that come to mind in terms of heavyweight? Zhang is a name that pops up from recent times but who else? And why do you think we hardly ever see southpaw power punchers especially at heavyweight? Cheers

    For sure
For sure. But I do wonder why we dont see many southpaw power punchers. What is it about being southpaw..

Most definitely not elite or even world class but I loved watching Joey Abell. He was always in wars, and would either knock them out or get brutally knocked out himself.

We did not historically because southpaws are rare. And some orthodox fighters were natural southpaws and forced to box orthodox - Henry Cooper, Gerry Cooney to name two.

Corrie Sanders and Zhang were/are huge punchers.

Now you have Itauama who is a big puncher. So is Opetaia when he eventually moves up. Jalolov is a big puncher although he is throwing his talent away. So that is 3 big southpaw punchers in one era. And now they will become even more common.

Sultan Ibragimov had decent power, he was a small heavyweight but was often knocking down or stopping much bigger men. W Klitschko was afraid of being hit during their fight.

Corrie Sanders had a powerful left.

Ibragimov was fun to watch when he was in aggressive mode. He absolutely destroyed Mora.

I'd say Zhang actually. He can really crack and is probably the hardest puncher in HW boxing ATM.
