If you could change one rule about boxing what would it be?

Ban rematch clauses. Rematches should be reserved for fights so exciting the public demands to see it again.

50/50 purse splits for all fights. No more fighters pricing themselves out. You got 2 people fighting; they get even money. The "A side" tide will simply have to be satisfied with rising all boats.

Enforce the rules. Refs need to crack down on negative fighters. Two warning, and then keep stacking up point deductions for fighters that come to foul. DQ if needed. This includes clinching, stiff arming, turning your back, ducking below the belt, etc.

Go back to the 8 original weight classes.

 

Probably a pet hate that doesn't bother anyone else, but I would stop people pulling their trunks and groin-protectors up to their nipples (eg.Tyson Fury). Make it a rule that the belly button has to be visible, then anything that lands on the trunks is low

 

End clinching, or as it is enforced today. Boxers are allowed to just grab on and then wait for the referee to reset the action. No, that should not be tolerated as it´s already against the rules. If you cling, you have to work, or your opponent will be allowed to work. Holding on with both hands will get points deducted.

 

You would kill the sport.

I swear, for Usyk-Fury 1, Fury pulled his trunks up extra high as a troll to Usyk for what happened with Dubois.

No same nationality referees in titlefights.
They should always come from neutral countries, as it's clear that most can't judge fairly.

 

Simple, 5 judges required for championship fights, while it won't get rid of all dodgy decisions it will make it multiple times harder for someone to try and "influence" a fight. It will still greatly reduce the chance of a bad decision or robbery.

Plus its a relatively simple rule change without adding too much extra cost or changing the sport in large way.

 

Banning corrupt judges and reverting their false decisions.

They definitely need to be held accountable.

Some of the scorecards we see are just ridiculously wrong.

Some judges are either blatantly, and shamelessly corrupt or simply ret@rdedly stupid...

Less divisions, same day weigh ins, more(!?) judges, to have less robberies

 

Normalise 10-10 rounds

so many close rounds are decided by which fighter you like more as a person.

AI judging or have some accountability for judges.

You weigh-in 1 hour before the fight. Would remove weight bullying and dangerous rehydrating from the sport, I am aware many fights would be cancelled last minute but it would be much better for the sport if everyone fought at their natural weight
