You're in top form lately mate. Talking evolve, the skill difference between Wilder and Liston is huge.

I know you're saying this for effect but really even Liston's most rabid critics ( just about all of them seem to be on this site ) acknowledge that Sonny had tremendous punching power.
You've declared your dislike of Sonny Liston but honestly mate you really are over-egging it.

Wilder would probably try to hurt Sonny early, stamp his mark and show Liston What's what.

    Big mistake.
The fight resembles Liston V Williams, and perhaps goes a few rounds more.
Sonny caves him in and drops him heavily.

In my opinion, we have 3 possible outcomes...

    #1: Liston wins by stoppage.
    #2: Wilder wins by stoppage.
    #3: Liston wins by decision.

I will go with Sonny Lliston over Deontay Wilder, and set the odds at 2-1 in favor of Sonny Liston.

I wish you actually read my comment before replying. Not hitting harder than Wilder =/= Not hitting hard. Liston hit hard. Just nowhere near Wilder.

I did read your comment. It was a sarcastic remark made by you about Liston's reputation
being built on Sonny knocking out a 5' 10'' journeyman. Now Sonny may or may not have hit as
hard as Wilder.Who knows ? However the sneering tone of your post was totally inappropiate
for a man who was clearly one of the hardest punchers in heavyweight history.

I mean tell me if Im wrong. Majority of Liston’s opponents were geniunely that size. Most weight he gave up in a fight was 15 lbs against a journeyman he went to a decision with. Wilder consistently swatted down and flatlined people 30-70 lbs heavier than him as if they are flies. He’s been outweighed damn near his whole career. I don’t see how Liston can possibly approach his level as a puncher, nor how Liston can be considered “one of the hardest punchers ever” when his average opponent was the same size as Canelo’s SMW opponents. Liston hit hard. Thats it. Doesnt really compare to the actual monster-punchers of HW imo.

I wouldn’t FAVOR wilder to beat Liston. But would I give him a chance ? Yes. Wilder has the kind of power that could have knocked out anyone. He also had a pretty solid chin in his prime at least. He’d also have the advantage of size and was usually in excellent condition. And I don’t think the intimidation factor would be there for Sonny in this match either

What absolute nonsense. So you are saying that most of Liston's opponents were roughly 5' 10''
and weighed around 180 lbs. For crying out why are you spewing this rubbish ? You are saying that
most of Liston's opponents were roughly the same size as Canelo's SMW opponents.
So men like Cleveland Williams ( 210lbs ),Nino Valdes (211 lbs ),Mike DeJohn ( 202ibs ),
Howard King ( 204 lbs ) and Henry Clark ( 215 lbs ) were about 180lbs.Just for the record they
    were all over 5' 10 ''.
As for punching power you say that Liston isn't in the same league as Wilder. So Liston, who as a
middle-aged man in his last fight broke Chuck Wepner's nose, cheekbone and cut Wepner up
so badly that Wepner needed 72 stitches can't be compared to Wilder as a puncher ?
    Gimme strength.

I mean at a minimum Wilder is the best guy Liston fought besides Ali? He had tough fights against Williams… Williams was not as good as Wilder and Liston said CW almost stopped him he didn’t exactly massacre guys he had 20lbs on like Machen. I think like @cross_trainer said if there was money involved or your house / some other stakes folks would probably start to look at DW a lot more seriously. Personally? Wilder is a bit lazy but so is Liston from what I remember… they both seemed to do the minimum, just one of them was always the smaller guy, here he could really impose himself… - Wilder would work as little as possible until Liston pressed him and he landed a right hand, Liston surviving that moment is unlikely.

The skill difference between Ellis and Shavers was too… physicality matters a lot, size difference between Liston and Wilder is about that.
