Good post.Just a small caveat, Liston knocked Whitehurst halfway out of the ring in their last fight ,only the final bell saved Whitehurst from a ko.

Ellis was 6 ft 1in and his weight at heavy was generally between194 and 205lbs
When he fought the 6 ft Patterson he was198lbs,10lbs heavier than
    Patterson
Cooper was 6ft 1 1/2in his best weight was under 190lbs.

Perhaps if Louis had faced Ali in his second defence then ,like Liston ,that would have been the end of his reign?

    Well, there's that

What if Wills, however, was made to sweat in each victory? Bet you didn't factor that in, eh?

There's the small problem of Conn being 168 odd pounds. Liston isn't as static as Louis in his punching, nor as predictable. He's also got plenty more reach. He can also position people with punches, onto other punches. If Conn went the distance he'd be well behind.

Wills broke sweat during his 13 x victories over ATG Sam Langford?

In light of this revelation, I feel Dempsey's failure to defend against his outstanding contender is somewhat vindicated.

Oh my gosh- so Liston was almost KO'd by one of the hardest punchers in heavyweight history. Not actually KO'd but almost KO'd.Hmm...if you ask me that's proof of just how good
Liston's chin was.Povetkin was not bigger than Liston nor is Usyk.
Nowadays heavyweights put on weight for a variety of reasons. In Liston's day heavyweights used to boil down to be as light as possible.Don't tell me that Povetkin and Usyk were bigger than Sonny.Anthony Joshua was Ko'd by the awesome Andy Ruiz.
This is empirical evidence that AJ would be KO'd by Sonny.

Usyk and Povetkin are both taller and heavier, so that means they’re bigger… not sure how you’d say otherwise? - surviving by the skin of your teeth in the early rounds against a rudimentary fighter like Williams is a sign of a good chin? You realise not everyone who survives a “puncher” has a good chin, nor does it mean they were never hit… Listons chin is average, he was drummed and shook by Ali and stopped… the first time he quit before it could happen.

Good catch, I’d completely forgotten about that. You’re right, he did nearly finish Whitehurst at the end there. Shows that even when he wasn’t at his best or couldn’t pin a guy down all fight, the power was still there late if he landed clean.

Fair point, and something I probably should’ve mentioned.

Then why did he dominate the H2H with "past prime" Langford? If you wanna argue 100% prime Langford is better thats fine I might even agree but how do you say prime Wills isn't near the level of "past prime" Langford when he was winning? And when even the notion that Langford was past his prime then was debatable? If Langford was past his prime it was a fairly small amount.

Langford also had to make himself obese or felt he needed to make himself obese to fight Wills. So theres that.
