Was waiting for the Berlanga fight to be over... have to say, tonight is an example of why boxing desperately needs drastic changes in order to help reign in the subjectivity of the sport.

During the Shakur fight you literally had 3 posters scoring it like 7-2 to SS after 9 rounds, and many others scoring it 7-2 to Zepeda.

Its an embarrassment and a shame on the sport that two groups of knowledgeable individuals who are fans of the sport can have literal inverse scores after 9 completed rounds, and imo that subjectivity is a cancer to the sport in various ways.

    That should be inexcusable.

And I didnt see the fight, Im not calling out one group or another Im simply speaking to the common extreme extreme variance in scorecards.

He did land a bunch of clean jabs to the body and head Shakur did good to block most of the hook shots but a lot got through why his mouth was busted up

I agree but given he is still only 26 there is still time for him to improve

Pavlik was alot more aggressive though and he would be more assertive and active with his jab.

Compare when Pavlik was a non stop punching machine vs Miranda....Sheeraz is nothing like that.

Benavidez definitely should get the nod before Sheeraz. If Canelo doesn't fight Benavidez then it's another duck.

All bizness ! I never liked loud mouth Berlanga. It felt good to see his tattos and fade get faded.

I agree. But if he then goes on to beat the guys that destroyed his opponents, it doesn't matter.

Sheeraz puts his punches together very well. Would Adames want a rematch at SMW?

It's a shame but it will always be like that. People have the tendency to watch the fighter they like and not the fight.

to be fair, this was a fight that can be hard to judge in the moment. Zapeda was the aggressor for the first half, by a mile. And he landed a lot of glancing blows then. Thing is, they were only glancing blows because Shakur is slick. And during those rounds, when Shakur did throw a power punch, it landed flush. But due the difference in aggression, it’s all hard to judge in the moment.

second half though, that wasn’t hard to judge. Shakur boxed Zapeda’s face off.

Not really deserving of the comparison, but this was absolutely like a Floyd Mayweather fight (Money era, not Pretty Boy).

Kelly had a solid chin, though. He got rocked by Taylor and came back to KO him.

Sheeraz should take it at SMW. He looked so much better tonight than he did last outing. He’s still tall and skinny, but he doesn’t look starved anymore. And his power definitely carried.

of course, he’s probably actually a CW if he picks up a weight and a rotisserie chicken once in a while, but I’d say he was back to form.

    well done.
