He reminds me of ODLH, his punching style. Sheeraz is a textbook fighter who just beat a SMW contender, the same contender who recently lost a points decision against Canelo. Interesting presence, I like the way he carries himself.
The hand injury didn’t help his cause against Adama last time out but with both hands and the step up in weight last night, he’s a very dangerous addition to SMW
Isn't be a left handed fighter who fights right handed? De La Hoya was a left handed fighter who fought right handed too. Sheeraz has a strong left jab and a strong left hook. However, i am skeptical of his power in his right hand. Yes, he scored a knockdown with his right hook yesterday. However, it doesn't seem to me that he has lots of power in that right hand. When you are using your weaker hand as your power hand, its very very difficult to put a lot of power into the shots. Andre Ward had a similar issue. Another leftie who fought as a rightie and over relied on jab + left hook. Sheeraz really needs to develop his right hand properly.
Whatever works. Experimentation, fight orthodox or fight southpaw and have more power in either the left or right, fighting at either stance. Either way he's on the verge of being a break out star.
I think the weight cut affected him in the Adames fight. Maybe the broken hand as well. He didn't throw enough punches and that was his undoing in that fight. Against Berlanga, he was a lot more active, especially after round 2. He was backing Berlanga up all fight. He was using the jab, and following it up with right hands and hooking off the jab. He was putting his combinations together well. This was he needed to show that he was good as he was hyped to be pre-Adames. Without the draining, he can have more energy to throw punches. He's got really good power too. With Andy Lee as his trainer teaching him to throw better combinations, he can become a force to be reckon with at 168. He'd beat the likes of Charlo, Munguia, Pacheco and everyone else. Only guys who can potentially beat him are Mbilli & Canelo and maybe Iglesias.
Sheeraz is looking like he may become the next face of British boxing after Fury and AJ retire, if they build him well. Dubois isn’t charismatic enough for people to emotionally invest in him. Itauma might build a following but I haven’t seen much of his personality. Nick Ball is too low in weight and lacks broader mainstream appeal. If they can navigate him to a Canelo fight, and he performs well, he might explode in popularity. The other candidate is Viddal Riley given his social media presence but I’m not convinced by his skills yet.
Okay it was a good win by Sheeraz but Berlanga is genuinely a mid gatekeeper at best. Berlanga just had a big mouth with a skilled PR team that created an illusion - a carefully created hype job magnified by his journeymen opponents inability to take a punch. The likes of Mbilli, Munguia, Jermall, Iglesias - let alone Canelo would eat up Sheeraz.
Whilst I like and rate Sheeraz, am a fan of him, was impressed by his performance last night, especially how he put his shots together and took Berlangy out, and derived immense enjoyment from watching him completely expose Berlangy for the insanely delusional D level glass-jawed hype job he is in Berlangy's backyard, I can't read too much into this because Berlangy is a D level glass-jawed hype job who I've never rated one bit and not without good reason. Sheeraz is legit and he has and will go onto prove that more against higher quality opponents but this was a very clever bit of matchmaking by Big Frank
I think Sheeraz would beat some of those guys and maybe most of them. Iglesias has looked really impressive so far though
I'm not even sure Adames would beat any of those guys listed. Who'd you back Sheeraz to beat? I could defo understand Jermall to be honest as he is a joke these days.
I'm not sure which of them I'd back him to beat. He has serious power and puts his shots together really well. I don't rate Mung, Jermall is a part-time fighter with mental issues these days and even in his prime was super easy to hit. Mbilli's style would pose problems for Sheeraz but his whiskers are suspect and he's there to be hit. Clenelo is well past his best and I think he's going to lose to Crawford As said, Iglesias is the one think shows the most promise. He's fighting Shishkin next. I think Iglesias, Shishkin, Mbilli, Bek the Bully, Pacheco among others all knock out Berlangy too
He's got skills and a great coach. I'd like to see him at 175; he certainly has the size for that weight. I wonder how much he struggles to make 168
I think Sheeraz would beat Adames handily at 168, I think he was cutting to hard to make 160 and it was costing him. Also the first fight was close, even if a gift to Sheeraz, without breaking his hand its easy to imagine Sheeraz doing enough to swing a couple rounds. I reckon he could beat Munguia and Charlo with the right preparation and that he could beat the others if the stars aligned, though he would most likely lose.
