Wilder had a nuke of a right hand and Lewis was felled by right hands twice in his career. If Wilder can smash his right into Lewis chin, Wilder wins. However, Lewis is lots more skilled than Wilder and isn't lacking in the punching power department himself. I suspect that Lewis plays it safe and outboxes Wilder to a UD or late round stoppage
Might depend a bit on which Lewis turns up. I’m not taking lack of focus and/or conditioning, rather, what type of battle mode Lewis might opt for. He could box cautiously at range but the ever present danger of Wilders right hand would remain active for as long as the fight lasted. Otherwise he could go the way of the Grant fight, open purposefully and aggressively (as he did vs Botha and Golota), maybe get rocked early but get his own power shots in to finish it. The coup de grace might well be a vicious uppercut while holding Wilder’s head nicely in place to receive it. Lennox knew how to get rough in there as and when necessary.
With that level of power, it's always possible. But we've seen a big man with a good jab and good footwork keep him at bay before. Tyson Fury boxed very well in their first fight, but if we're being honest, I think we can admit that he clearly got overconfident and lost his focus a number of times which contributed to those knockdowns. True, you could say that Lennox's overconfident and lack of focus contributed to his two career losses. But I think if he was in the right frame of mind, he wins this fight fairly easily and almost assuredly stop him in the middle rounds. Lennox might not be quite as fleet footed as Tyson at his best, but he can still move very well for a man his size. And his jab, not to mention his other punches, are a lot more powerful. I think Deontay would be almost as vulnerable to Lewis' right hand as Lewis would be to his. As long as Lewis kept his feet and upper body moving, he should win this one hands down.
Hi Guys. Am going with general consensus, Wilder rather fancied himself as a lean, mean, fearsome type, all that shouting, pulling faces, but as the fight approaches and he relishes that Lewis is concerned not a jot, and is not intimidated, his bluff and bluster will fall on stony ground, and in the dressing room before the knock on the door, it will dawn on him, he is up against a big, strong, hard hitting fighter, who, when he has to, can go to the trenches, then it will only be a matter of time, pushed I will go for mid fight stoppage, with Wilder showing immense bravery, in the tradition. stay safe guys, chat soon. Mike.
