Best fight you’ve ever seen live/in person (as in you were in the arena vs TV/streaming)

For me, it was Evander Holyfield vs Dwight Muhammad Qawi I in Atlanta.

Fifteen rounds of non-stop punching between the rising Holyfield and the wily veteran Qawi. Many shifts of fortune and no rest for the weary as they just kept notching up the pace.

I was in college. My father called me like on Monday and said ‘let’s go see this Holyfield fight’ which was on that upcoming weekend — he sprung for the tickets, flights and a couple hotel rooms within walking distance.

Fantastic experience. I owe it all to my Pop!

@Mike Cannon has a good one. I bet you do, too. So tell us all about it!

    Wow! Lucky you man.

The Nigel Benn fights I attended were the most exciting.

Vs Tim Williams and Chilambe at the Albert Hall and last minute replacement Danny Ray Perez at Wembley Stadium

I think Chilambe was a replacement too, for an American who hadn’t yet seen videos of Benn when he accepted, I don’t recall the name of the guy

And Darrin Van Horn pulled out TWICE (Giminez and Perez replaced him)

Benn’s punches sounded different, and took you aback at how explosive he was in person

From the chimes of Big Ben to begin to the waving of fists at the end with a missing front tooth after the win, nothing quite like a Nigel Benn fight

Edit* Kenny Snow was the American who experienced squeaky bum time after being asked for Benn videos close to the fight, he was still on the fight poster. Frank Maloney did well to find this random gangly African Chilambe - total fodder!

My Grandfather had two tickets and took me to see Evander Holyfield fight George Foreman. What a thrill that was!

Maybe Tomasz Adamek vs. Paul Briggs 1
    Cliff Etienne vs Lawrence Clay-Bey
    Humberto Soto vs. Rocky Juarez
    David Diaz vs. Erik Morales

    They were all fun.

I'm ashamed to admit I've never seen a boxing match in person. Only on TV.

So best I've seen in person would be like some kid in high school vs. some other kid in high school. Or perhaps the time in middle school a buddy of mine had just had it with this older asshat who had been bullying everyone, sucker punched the dude and swarmed him -- buddy was a legend for the rest of the school year for that.

    Thompson vs Eubank.
Brutal fight at cruiserweight and although I’d been watching Eubank for years on tv, I didn’t appreciate his pure theater but also sheer toughness until I saw him fight in person.

The biggest fight that I have seen live was Lewis vs Tyson at the pyramid in Memphis. Living in St Louis, I saw a lot of Cory Spinks fights live like Spinks/Judah II for the WW title and even got to see Leon Spinks a couple of times. James Toney has fought in St Louis a couple of times.

I wish I’d seen Benn live..only ever saw him on tv and he was amazing to watch, must have been incredible to have been there. He put everything into every punch.
