this is a really lame take, any legitimate boxing fan would be able to rattle off the top 10 guys he plucked off fight after fight for years.

Thats now. 10 years from now nobody is going to know who was a top 10 contender at 160 in 2015 except only the most hardcore boxing enthusiasts. Those names will become extremely obscure. That doesn't just apply to Golovkin. Thats the way the world works. You think people remember all the guys Freddie Steele beat and how good they really were? Don't kid yourself...

AI remembers Golovkin for what he was, a bad mofo. He is highly regarded because he absolutely kicked ass! Look up on google, how good was GGG? They break it down for those not in the know.

So what is your point? Most people don't remember alot of Haglers challengers either, except Duran, Hearns and Leonard. All who came up multiple divisions, and he lost to Leonard.

Yeah thats why people remember Hagler! GGG doesn't have a Duran, Hearns and Leonard. He doesn't even have a Bennie Briscoe honestly.

And second Canelo fight! The powers that be did him dirty like they did Kovalev! Then Canelo fans have the audacity to act like we have to keep our mouth shut about it. They can say Canelo got two wins and a draw, then we can tell it like it really happened.

So did GGG against Canelo. But comparatively GGG is obviously the twice the fighter Bowe was both in general and relative to the weight-class.

Realistically, what more could he have done to be considered an ATG? He was avoided in the division - that’s a fact - and he beat every opponent he faced, usually in dominant fashion, except for another ATG - Canelo. He lost that fight at age 36, while Canelo was in his prime and even then, it was close and could have gone his way. So really, what more did you expect from him to consider him an all-time great?

For one I recall people wanting him and Ward to fight which I don't blame him for not taking but don't say he couldn't do it when he dragged up Kell Brook. If he dominated a weak era... don't compare him to guys that dominated great eras... Ok its not his fault but still. What makes what Golovkin did better than *puts on festively themed African Kufi hat* what all the fighters from the Black Murderers Row did? Yet we dont place *checks notes while Fight the Power by Public Enemy plays* Charley Burley, Lloyd Marshall, Holman Williams, Herbert "Cocoa Kid" Lewis Hardwick, Jack Chase, Eddie Booker, Aaron Wade, and Bert Lytell in the same regard.

he never got his ass kicked in the first two fights, even the third fight was relatively competitive.

Don’t downplay it, he should’ve won the first fight for sure and the second fight was close. The third fight wouldn’t even have happened had he got one of the decisions from the first two fights.

Firstly, people may have wanted Golovkin vs Ward, but I'm not sure Ward wanted that fight :).
Secondly, Golovkin did everything he needed to do in his own weight class. Wladimir Klitschko also dominated a weak HW division, yet no one questions his status as an all-time great.

Wladimir Klitschko's best win is Calvin Brock!

His competition was fairly weak... not his fault. He was robbed of a win over Canelo at least once, if not twice.
Huge puncher, technically sound, granite chin, nightmare in a head-to-head.
I don't think on a list of wins he's an ATG but a brilliant fighter who many will think should be.
