Will be backing Dubois 100%. All he needs to do is get in there with that Ronnie Kray mindset from Legend — no fear, no waiting. Just put it on Usyk from the opening bell and roll the dice. Like Tom Hardy said: “I’ve come here for a ****ing shootout. A proper shootout with some proper men – like Colonel Custer and Geronimo, you ever heard of them?” That’s the attitude. No chess match — just controlled chaos. And who knows… if he lands, it could be another one biting the dust and breakdancing like Electric Boogaloo.
Dubois needs to put it on Usyk, but he needs to be smart early on, work for his openings, and try and set some traps. It's one thing laying it on Joshua and Hrgovic, but Dubois will find himself countered to death if he tries to just bludgeon in headfirst on Usyk.
Exactly Dubois is never going to outbox Usyk — let’s be real. Fury and AJ had all the physical advantages in the world and still tried to play the technical game with him in the center of the ring. You can’t box Usyk on the outside and just give him time and space. That’s his comfort zone. Dubois needs to force the pace from round one — back him up, rough him up, pin him to the ropes and let the shots go. It’s risky, sure, but a calculated shootout for the first six rounds is a better gamble than trying to be slick and getting picked apart like in the first fight. Chisora showed the blueprint: make it physical and uncomfortable. Usyk didn’t like it — same way Loma didn’t like it when Teo put it on him. Yeah, Dubois will walk into some shots, but Usyk backing up can’t generate the same power — he won’t be set, and the leverage won’t be there. And let’s not forget: Usyk said Derek was the biggest puncher he’s faced, and that's no coincidence. Dubois has more size, more presence, and if he fights with that same chaos-from-the-bell mindset, he might just break the rhythm and make something happen. And hopefully the crowd gets behind him and lifts the atmosphere — though I fear half of them will be nodding off or too pissed after watching (or escaping from) the Okolie fight.
Usyk, and I hope he retires afterwards, with absolutely nothing left to prove. He's better than all of them, but time waits for no man etc etc.....
I'll usually support the Brit over anyone, but Usyk is something special. I like the way he carries himself inside and outside of the ring. He's a proper champion, so I'm going with him.
Big fan of Usyk as a person and a fighter, not only is he incredibly skilled and athletic, he's also a character that's hard not to like. That being said, Dubois is a British underdog, I'd like to see him achieve something that AJ and Fury could not do. I think if Dubois somehow managed to pull out a win, it would be good for the heavyweight scene. What a turn around in his career that would be. Rooting for DDD, but doubtful it will be any different from the first fight.
On the talkshite introduction for this, Dubois is heard saying “bombs away” clearly with a smile on his face. He is then asked if he’s going to knock Usyk out, to which he replies “bombs away, mate”. The man is like a terminator. Programmed to think that he cannot be beaten. I think Dubois, known as John Coffee by some, will prat Usyk onto Pluto. He simply cannot be beaten. Hea going to walk in there like Marlon Harewood and put one on Usyk’s kisser. I haven’t been this excited for a boxing match in years. If he takes the belts he will leave the likes of Fury and Joshua in the dust.
Wishing victory for Usyk, win and then retire as an Undefeated Triple Undisputed 2 Weight Champion. Dubois is only 27, plenty of time on his side to win a World Title. I'd be gutted to see Usyk lose his 0 to Dubois who isn't a great boxer (puncher, yes). Dubois needs, Win or Lose, to face Parker.
He really does so that this Parker overhyping can finally come to an end. Sick of hearing about this new aggressive Parker when his two marquee wins over old men were low volume and a lot less punches thrown than against Joyce who Parker claims he was ill against. Don’t know how this guy gets away with everything. Dubois would run right through him and it would be an absolute pleasure to witness. Parker can then face Hughie Fury
As much as I agree with you assessment of Parker I'd also say people are getting carried away with Dubois. Has he really improved all that much and so different to when he faced Usyk before? I'm not sure, Hrgovic was landing whenever he wanted but he couldn't keep it up. What you think? Do you see this massive improvement people talk about?
