the only future possble fights that Usyk or his team have actually entertained is a trilogy with either fury/aj, chisora rematch, Alex pereira and Jake Paul lol. No Parker or Kabayel talks at all, only in passing. A good compromise in my eyes is have Parker vs Kabayel & AJ vs Fury and let the winners face Usyk, Actually defend ur belt against the undeniable number 1 challenge and then have the payday fight he's clearly craving for his last fight. Wishful thinking tho. Or do u reckon the most logical step for Usyk now is to retire? Considering Usyk has basically speed ran his pro career (collecting belts and moving on quickly) I don't see him actually having the desire to be a defending champion.
Just a thought that came to mind now: if the war in the ukraine was to end anytime soon I can not imagine him not fighting there at least once. Parker and kabayel are the most deserving opponents by far. Opetaia is also a good candidate. Jake Paul does not make sense and is certainly only chasing clout, usyk would win if he was only allowed to use his jab and only five times a round.
He ain’t fighting Alex anymore surely, Alex is kinda lost a lot of lustre (IMO) since his recent loss at least a lot of marketable appeal…he’d basically need to (AP that is) beat Ank or basically retire from MMA? I don’t think he’s going to go in the OU fight without some solid, real boxing prep regardless so it’ll be a while IMO… I think Alex will stay in MMA. I think after DDD they SHOULD set up a match between Kaba and Parker… that or let Parker who is in his prime (imo) waiting for the shot have a go, Parker is the most obvious outstanding contender he’s had a long road to this chance… I’d be unsurprised if this fight is close Usyk may retire, he’ll still he a great but with 4 more bouts he’d be up there with Louis and Ali etc.
Unfortunately, the money that can't be turned down, may only be there for a BS pointless trilogy, although if it were for the winner of a single AJ/Fury match-up ... that might be ok. If i could chose a final fight for him it would be Itauma, assuming he get's past Whyte with ease.
Assuming he beats Dubious (otherwise rematch no doubt). I predict only big money fights from now on, which means AJ/Fury, or a comfortable fight to retire on, that's where a less threatening Chisora-type opponent would be made. I would be surprised if he just faces standard contenders for standard purses now when he's accustomed to the jackpot. The way he would look at it now is that he will cash in on all the 'career work' he's done and God is helping him to harvest the wheat so he can feed his Ukrainians etc. I don't see any money fight bigger than AJ/Fury so I suppose it's either that or the knock-over opponent. Wlad was probably the wildcard money fight that could have been made but even if Wlad wanted that, Ukraine wouldn't allow that now I don't think, not suitable for national morale.
On another note I feel like a guaranteed shot at Usyk for the winner of AJ vs Fury might be the only thing that could convince fury to actually take the AJ fight lol
I think he will stay "active" after dubois of course looses against him . With "active" you can expect he will not retire and vacate his belts but keep sitting on it and ukraine will make sure he will not get stripped when avoiding title defences . In any case he will not fight anybody he has a real risk to loose against . So unless parker or kabayel is ready to sign a contract on usyk,s conditions he will not fight them
When Usyk is pounded into oblivion by Frank’s pet Frankenstein, and is laying motionless ringside. They will scoop up Usyk’s scrawny remains, take it to the bell tower in the Transylvanian village. Take the Ukrainian’s skull to Egor’s surgeons and Count Dracula’s castle, scoop out Usyk’s brain. Then bring it to Dubois operating table, where there will perform an open brain transplant. Triple D Dubois will soon have the body of the Hulk, and the boxing brain of Einstein. Thus transforming himself into an unstoppable monster!!! All hail Daniel Dubois!!!
I think if he wins he says he is going to take a break, hold up the division for 6 months and then pick a cash out fight against someone like Fury. I hope I'm wrong, but if I'm right he should at least drop the belts so the division can move on.
If he wins tonight, should retire in-ring at the end. It’s clear he wants no part of Parker, who is the one who 100% deserves the shot. if he loses, rematch obviously. the troll in me says it’s too bad there’s not a decent Russian heavyweight for him to fight.
he already got stripped. Hence the fight tonight. Since when does the Ukrainian government have power over the sanctioning bodies? If anyone has that kind of influence, it’s Turki. Parker would sign on Usyk’s conditions for sure. But Usyk isn’t interested.
