Is Lennox Lewis the most skilled "giant" in boxing history?

Does Bowe count as a giant? I think he had more in his toolbox, but Lewis at his best was the more savvy fighter.

I also still believe that AJ had better fundamentals than Lewis and put his punches together better, but was mentally weaker and not the ring general prime Lewis was.

I think both Lewis and Wlad often get oversold on their technical abilities, which Fury also at least used to get, but they found a groove where they blended their tactics to their best attributes which make such relatively athletic big men very deadly.

Definitely. There has n't been a heavyweight as good as Lennox since he retired. Although Usyk comes pretty near, imo.

Would Usyk count as a "Giant" as he now weighs in over 224lbs?

I personally think it’s Wlad, I’m not sure what whack @$$ definition of skilled is unfolding in this thread but basically he was the most effective and not sloppy fighter, he fought tall very well.

I read the thread, I commented, I noticed someone else talking S to an otherwise very nice poster… can you think of when CT was ever rude to basically anyone? I posted an emoji relax JT remember your “angst and abuse” will not be tolerated.

JT, have some sympathy ffs. He’s on suicide watch because the love of his life was KTFO and is still out cold.

I’d respond to him directly but he’d report me like the whiny little ***** he is and have my comment deleted.

Yes, Lewis had more tools than Wlad, more well rounded than Bowe, superior offense and a more varied lead hand than Fury. Fury struggles to turn his puncher over. Fury is a close second, but he doesn't have power like Lewis or Wladimir and this was his ultimate downfall. He can't keep any decent heavyweight from walking him down

Just on skills - I could get into variances in interpretation of the term but I won’t.

I will say that a fighter obviously can’t be all things all at once and there is the question of measuring a reasonably applied jack of all trades against a fighter confined to a lesser range of skills but skills that he has totally mastered.

Perhaps similarly nuanced in the way we might score a more punches landed vs less punches landed but punches of superior quality.

Natural physical attributes and natural talent also dictate which skills a fighter might accent on and develop to his best advantage.

Some skills may also be better practiced to greater effect within certain substantive styles - so there is also a holistic view that can be taken when looking at an overall skill set and how the individual skills complement one another and ultimately come together - suffice to say, we all know the expression - greater than the sum of the parts.

That’s it. My 2cents worth. No correspondence entered into. I couldn’t be ****ed defending my position. I’ve just been dealing with a Flat Earther…that’s enough to be getting on with.
    :lol::lol::lol:

Anyway, just some random thoughts for some to perhaps chew on, perhaps even refine, without necessarily harassing me. :D

    Id say so.
A guy so big but not just a banger.
Only two losses in his career and walked away the champ.
Can't say much more than that.

No Ferguson (EDIT: I mean Ferg, auto correct was a tad bit too formal in its effort to “correct” me, lol), we can’t say much more.

Lennox was simply highly “skilled” at winning and also correcting/reversing a couple of career“hiccups” he had along the way. :D

Atlas described Usyk in similarly broad terms - stating that he always knows how to find a way to win.

Not a technical breakdown per se but we get the gist.
