Potentially several guys. Fury was past prime and out of shape and Joshua seemed to lose confidence post Ruiz.

Id say Hrgovic, Kabayel in the case of Joshua and maybe Dubois since he subsequently beat Joshua

In the case of Fury again Hrgovic and Kabayel and maybe Wardley. At cruiserweight id pick Opetaia over Fury

    It’s all opinions.

Evander did lose a lot, but he fought great fighters and fought on for way too long.

    He fought Bowe x 3, Mike x 2 and Lennox x 2.

Usyk hasn’t fought guys of those styles, attributes and quality.

No great version of Evander would have lost to Toney and Ruiz etc. But he couldn’t let go.

Regarding Frazier, he’s one of my favourite fighters. And of course he has that monster win over Ali. But for me, he has a poor overall resume/group of wins, and is below Evander.

I think that Mike would have been an horrific stylistic match up for him.

    Is this a serious post?

I have to ask, due to the amount of trolling that I see.

I’m always skeptical and it took me a while to accept how great Usyk has been as a legit HW but it’s impossible to not see it as plain as day. I was a huge Ali fan in the 70’s as a kid and saw every fight from the mid 70’s until the end of his career. 35+ year old Usyk destroys 35+ year old Ali, any version at this age.

Usyk is much more disciplined and has a higher ring IQ than Ali. He also doesn’t get hit nearly as much and is a better counter puncher. Ali had better power but Usyk is powerful and accurate enough to hurt Ali badly. Hate to say it but if these two met via Time Machine, Usyk would be the one getting his arm raised in victory at the end. Also, I don’t recall Ali ever giving up so much size, weight and strength than Usyk has given up over his last six fights. He is a disciplined technician in the ring and is the number one ranked HW at 38 years old. Ali was unable to fight competitively at this age. It hurts me to say it because I’m a huge fan but Usyk is better than Ali and would beat the best version of Ali in a fight. He would murder the old version (rope a dope) of Ali. It would be painful to see Ali take that kind of beating.

Well the same people who are rating Usyk above these greats were not that long ago claiming Anthony Joshua would beat Ali, Foreman and Frazier

Yet somehow many of the same guys who rated AJ above Ali, Foreman, are saying Usyk is just lucky to be in a weak HW era. Same guys who said AJ and Fury would destroy Usyk, refuse to give him credit, calling AJ and Fury overrated.

Some people refuse to give this guy any credit. I’ve never seen another fighter go into the lions den, enemy territory, for every fight and come out victorious. Most guys these days will only fight in areas where they are protected by corrupt ref and judges. Usyk is a unicorn and will be missed when he’s gone because there is no other fighter like him on the horizon. Enjoy it while it lasts.

AJ and Fury between them, proved that they were the best 2 HW’s in the world.

Usyk fought them with rematch obligations, and nobody minded.

I wasn’t a fan of him fighting Dubois again, but he has been on a good run.

    The thing is:

Who could he have fought instead?

People would have said that he’d not fought the best HW’s.

Also, the reason that people are saying he’s got nothing to prove, is simply because he was a CW, who has now beaten the consensus top 3 HW’s twice each.

There’s always fights out there for him. He could have 10 more HW fights. But really, he’s beaten the perceived best guys.

Personally I’d like to see him fight Parker.

Then if he’s still around in the next few years, possibly Moses or Jai, just because they’re young, hungry fast southpaws.

Why on earth would he have to beat Hrgrovic?

Come and have a serious debate my good man.

I want to see you have a serious debate for once.

Because if you were to speak about Usyk in the same vein as you’d spoken about those other fighters, you’d have written something like:

    Usyk -

“Barely beat Breidis at CW, before moving up and beating a guy who’d lost to a fat, B level Mexican, before then beating a guy who could barely beat an MMA fighter”

    The sport doesn’t continually evolve.

Fights are always determined by how the two fighters on the night match up stylistically.

If you were knowledgeable of the history of the division, then you should have your own opinions on how he may have done.
