The best HW version of Spinks fights Usyk instead of Holmes. Who wins? I actually think Spinks does much better than Dubois and maybe even Fury.
Think Usyk takes this too quick and tricky for Spinks and hits really hard wouldn't gas out like Holmes did probably late stoppage after Spinks has his moments in the early rounds
Usyk is better here at heavyweight imo. Spinks makes it interesting but Usyk figures him out and nails him down.
For some context, Michael Spinks' vote tally for top ten wins: https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/michael-spinks-vs-oleksander-usyk.739242/ Holmes I 3 Eddie Musafa Muhammed 3 Dwight Muhammed Qawi 3 Marvin Johnson 3 Gerry Cooney 3 Yanqui Lopez 3 Murray Sutherland II 2 Mustapha Wasajja 2 Holmes II 1 Johnny Davis 1 Stephan Taangstaad 1 Vonzell Johnson 1 Eddie Davis 1 And Usyk's current top ten wins: https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/usyks-top-ten-wins-as-of-7-19-25.739181/ Fury 1 3 Briedis 3 Joshua 1 3 Gassiev 3 Fury II 3 Joshua II 3 Dubois II 3 Bellew 3 Dubois 1 2 Chisora 2 Glowacki 1 Hunter 1
Not sure tbh. He went thirty with Holmes but Larry had gone back a step or two, so hard to gauge. Cooney never really tested him. Then he had a rhino charge at him and blasted him out in second s.
Spinks was never on Usyk's level, when you allow yourself to **** your pants and get knocked out in the first round you can't put yourself on the same level as Usyk...
Losses, like wins, aren't interchangeable. One can also say that Spinks beat Holmes twice so he can beat Usyk. Especially if you rate Holmes over Usyk. But that ignores the nuances. Mike Tyson had attributes that Usyk didn't have.
I suppose it may come down to how you think Spinks does vs other top heavies of that era not named Tyson. I wish he'd have fought Tony Tucker. How he would have done against Tucker would have told us more.
