His run from beating Postol, Baranchyk, Prograis, and Ramirez was short-lived but entertaining.

I hope to see Josh in Bare Knuckle Fighting Championships in a few years time as he loves a tear up.

Also would be a good boxing commentator (in general sense, i mean) if he were able to say what he really thinks.

Unfortunately he has a recurring eye condition now which means he’s been advised not to fight again.

It might do him good in the long run since he seems like the sort of bloke that would get the itch. I hope he does punditry as he has done well with it in the past and generally gives a good interview. He is a much more likeable character than the likes of Bellew, Barker, Nelson, Groves, and so on. They are all shite in my humble view!

I’d have thought he’d defo be interested in the bare knuckle fighting but if that’s the case we probably won’t see him again. Right move, you can’t mess around with your sight. Anthony Ogogo had to do the same after his injury sustained against Cunningham.

Makes sense. He was class in his prime, but he's been on the slide for a while now.

Shame about the eye. I think it was the correct time for him to retire, regardless of the eye. I wish him well. Terrific fighter in his prime. Achieved amazing things. Hope he is financially comfortable from boxing.

He will go down as one of the greats of Scottish boxing up there with Lynch, Buchanan, Watt, Patterson, Harrison, Burns etc. Well above the likes of Alexa Arthur who never won a world belt in the ring.

Strangest and fastest regression from prime/elite though, he never looked the same from the Catterall 1 fight onwards. Always baffled me.

Imagine if he'd retired after the Ramirez fight!

You'd imagine this was a tough decision to make but the right one
Achieved so much in such a short space of time

he shouldn't though and I was a Fan,

for awhile he looked as though he was going to be hard to beat, then he began to look less effective, then came Catterall and you knew that was it, same as Burns, just a good noted fighter... the point is, just like Tarver to Jones, along comes a fighter that shows us what they really are... at least RJJ fought a lot more & top fighters before Tarver came into it. But Burns and Taylor, not enough top service, nah.

Clark, Lee, Milligan, Lynch, Patterson, Gilroy, McGrory, Shaw (Scotland's only TOP HW), Kilrain, Keenan Calderwood, McCormack, McGowan, Buchanan and many more yet, far better for Scotland!

Good fighter though, just not Scotland's cream.

Loved everything about him as a fighter. Got on the inside and just had it. Stepped up levels perfectly on the way up and blitzed through the division. Undisputed in 18 fights is ridiculous.

Wish he stayed with Shane McGuigan but still an unbelievable career and hopefully he’ll get the respect he deserves now.

Doesn’t appear to be everyone’s cup of tea personality wise but I always felt I was seeing the true Taylor. There was no act with him.

Don't want to be rude buddy but thats such a daft opinion. Theres only one Scottish boxer who compares to josh in the modern era and thats Buchanan. What josh achieved in such a short space of time is unbelievable for any British fighter let alone Scottish. He was a genuine top 10 fighter in the world. He was a special talent who was way ahead of anything we have produced in modern times. Those guys you listed are not remotely close to him.

I think its underappreciated what he achieved and how he achieved it. Its such a shame his career went downhill so fast as he could easily have been a global superstar with the style that he fought with. His style was so entertaining to watch and he went out to win rather than just edge out a victory. It's sad as I doubt we will see a Scottish boxer with his skillset and natural fighting instinct for another 30 years. Ppl will probably back Buchanan as the greatest Scottish boxer of modern times but it's pretty close between the two and nostalgia always plays a part in these debates.
