He doesn't. He had a style that gelled well and put up a great performance. No need to read any further than that.
I feel like Briedis wasted the later part of his career after the Usyk defeat. He could have accomplished so much more given his skill level.
He would have done decent, but I think he is too small to be truly competitive. Unless he got on some good roids and really committed that is.
CW Sergiy Radchenko who has sparred Wlad, Usyk, Briedis, Huck, Glowacki, Wlodarczyk, Kudryashov and Chakhkiev among others said this about Briedis ''You just can't be lighting fast and hit hard at the same time in this division, although Mairis Briedis is an exception - he is fast, the second fastest guy I sparred behind Usyk, and hits very hard'' Klitschko brother's former chef and camp manager on Briedis ''I knew Mairis was a danger and would win. Bad choice for Charr . Mairis can bang!'' ''no but he was great at movement. You have to stay focused with Mairis at all times.'' Mairis is a tough dude. Had him at least 6-8 times in Wlad and Vitalis camps. Always gives top work'' ''Mairis can box that way is all day long, but dont be fooled, the boy has some power. Seen it first hand'' ''I DID... but I know what Mairis was capable of from many many times in Klitschko camps.'' James Ali Bashir on Briedis Said Briedis sparred Wlad numerous times and was never hurt by him, which he says is very rare for anyone who has sparred more than 30 rounds with Wlad. Couldn't get fights at heavy. To answer the question, he'd have done great. He had a decent win against Charr, and one at cruiser against Perez, who competed successfully at heavy. After the first Opetaia loss, he called out Chisora, who didn't want none.
Very well. Good enough to pick up a belt. I don't think he would have won undisputed but he was more than good enough to pick up a belt and beat some top 10 heavyweights.
A prime Breidis would be a top 5ish heavyweight right now similar to how Opetaia will be when he steps up.
Not saying you're wrong, but, isn't that why the bodies exist? He could have forced through regional titles and mandos. Even Usyk had to a bit to get the titles off Joshua. WBO mando wasn't he? I could be misremembering, but, Usyk being undisputed at CW made him a "Super" champion in the WBO. Which does not come with any special belt like the WBA but does come with the ability to challenge any other WBO champion without fighting their way through the ratings. Hence Chaz, Dereck, Mando. He didn't get mando because he beat anyone at HW, he got mando because he petitioned the WBO with the super champion's clause. So again, not saying you're wrong perse just I wonder why Marius didn't do anything similar. HW was pretty low on talent and had a bunch of lesser belts and such that come with similar clauses as what Oleks used to get to Joshua.
