Looking at these polls now, seriously, what does Usyk have to show or do to be favoured over Louis?

Joe Louis had underrated footwork, I think he'd find a way to line up Usyk in an exchange.

Arm punching flurries - akin to some of Ray Leonard's Olympic flurries.

None of these punches are against a live opponent - go to many gyms up and down the country and you will find elite talented youngsters who can replicate or even beat said handspeed throwing combinations at the air and no opponent.

Joe Louis throws his combinations and demonstrates handspeed and power against live opponents and knocks out live opponents.

When it comes to punching a man to submission and changing the fight in an instant with handspeed and timing, Louis is another level to Usyk.

I guess you missed Uysk battering Fury around the ring in the 8th round of their fight or Joshua in the 12th. He slept a 240 man with one shot on Saturday.

Ah, so Usyk's speed and power is comparable to Joe Louis'?

The same Fury who completely dominated Cunningham? The same AJ who ran into Ruiz's fists and hasn't really looked the same since? The same Dubois that he already beat, that someone as slow as Joyce already beat?

    Got it.

Now your just being condescending. I don't recall Uysk being out boxed by a 170 pound fighter or being knocked out by Max Baer. What about fat **** Galento planting him? All fighter's lose or have challenging moments. Uysk will lose someday as well doesn't make him less great. Same as Louis.

Hmmm, I suppose I can't fathom a world where when I say that Usyk isn't on Joe's level for combination of speed and power, someone offers Usyk's stoppages of provably unelite chins - I start to wonder what the agenda is.

Usyk probably won't lose now and he undoubtedly is great but his level of opponent and relatively short career at HW doesn't allow me to elevate him above others who are more proven and equally skilled in their own right. I certainly wouldn't use a video of flurrying with no opponent to gauge effectiveness as conclusive proof of handspeed when we can see evidence of Louis landing successive hooks and blistering combinations with unrivalled technique, placement and power on live opponents.

AJ and Louis are similar in that they’re not very mobile straight up fighters who are excellent at jabbing and throwing combos. Louis is far busier then AJ ever was and in no way shape or form is Usyks hands half as fast as Louis.

in the last point no one Usyk has fought is as good as Joe was..,no one and even though Joe never fought an Usyk Usyk never fought a Joe but he fought a close version in AJ (AJ not nearly as good defensively or stamina wise either). I got to see how that went down which makes me lean towards Joe.

Are you baseball fan by chance? If you are, than you probably have heard of Ty Cobb. Cobb is know as one of the greatest hitters ever but his era was full of guys that threw in 80 mph range. You throw him in with todays pitchers that throw 100mph and have insane movement and suddenly he is not the same guy.

As great as Louis was in his era, this sport is different now. Uysk isn't defending against bartenders named Galento.

Again, I love Joe Louis and respect the hell out of him. If he was born in this era and grew up fighting southpaws and guys that have spent years in national amateur programs I'm sure he would rise to the occasion. I should have known better than to post on a mythical matchup like this.

Sorry this is not intelligent thinking. If this was the case the newest thing would always be best. But currently and for the last forty years you’ve had champions going late into their 30s. AJ looks amateurish in comparison to Louis. Just rewatched that fight with Usyk and he leaves himself open constantly. As does DD. If he could do as well as he could I have reason to believe Joe would be able to hold his own.

Boxing is the only sport where the talent plateaued in the 1930's and has not improved since. Fact.

Cricket is one of the most played sports in the world. It's insane how popular it is on the sub continent. In terms of both viewership and how much it is played, cricket absolutely dwarfs baseball, for example, which would be very much considered a past-time by comparison.

But, don't let me get in the way of your fantasy. As you were.
