But why should he jump infront of the pecking order without proving himself against a world class opponent ? Parker has been waiting for his shot for 2 years now and it would be totally unfair that a green prospect who is undeserving of his shot to get the fight instead of Parker. Parker has been the one taking on the dangerous fights 2 of them against fighters who were considered the hardest punchers in the division. But no one knows whether or not Itauma is good enough ? that's the point. And putting him in with Usyk just to lose could ruin his development. He needs to beat a relevant opponent and get some world class experience instead of putting him in at the deep end with Usyk with only 12 professional fights that's ridiculous logic. Even Kabayel is more deserving of a shot.
we don't know what he's about is relative. We know he's good, of course... ffs mate. This is a discussions board and you got your knickers in a twist when someone has a different point of view (better point of view)
lol Parker waiting for two years? Two years to this day Parker had beat Massey (who stunned him with a right hand and who was stopped by Opetaia) and Faiga Opelu whoever that is, after the Joyce obliteration, so he was waiting on a title shot after these two wins? lol
So my opinion for thinking the top 2 and 3 contenders in Parker, Kabayel, are more worthy of a shot than a 13 fight novice ? means my point of view is logically worse than your point of view ? i don't think so. Even Itauma admitted recently that they were more deserving of a shot after his win over Whyte ? So the fighter himself in Itauma thinks you are wrong aswell ? Parker has beaten 3 top 10 contenders in a row so yes he objectively deserves his shot more that's plainly obvious to anyone with common sense. So in your case (Better point of view) = Being objectively wrong.
Parker had beaten Wilder in 2023 which was a major upset and no one was sure what Fury was going to do after the Ngannou embarrassment with talks of him retiring. So Parker logically would've been the next opponent in line but Fury then decided he wanted the Usyk fight so from the end of 2023 Parker has been a top contender and had to wait for 2 rematches with Fury, Dubois. So after beating 3 top contenders in a row and being a top contender since the end of 2023 which is almost 2 years yes i think it's time Parker gets his shot.
Yes, Wilder in 2023 was old and shot, hence his performance. What happened to putting me on your ignore list? Why did you delete that post? You are so careful and overly emotional... on a boxing forum lol
Not sure about anyone else but I have learnt nothing more about where Itauma is after Saturday... Sure he got Dillian out of there but lets be honest its not the Dillian of 5-8 years ago but basically imo looked like a cash out for him, name looks good on his resume but that's where it ends. Personally I think he needs to be in with the likes of Parker/Kabayal/Dubios someone live who still has the hunger to win and then we will see if he's ready for Usyk. Blowing out an old Dillian Whyte doesn't earn him the right to face Usyk in my opinion anyway...
i agree with you david but how does walking around with a shot Wilder (and not putting him down) and scraping past an ancient zhang, being put down twice, (and not putting him down), and then beating Bakole on two days' notice, two or three flights and zero sleep, earn a shot against Usyk? It's all a load of rubbish. At least Kabayel has dealt with opponents convincingly and hasn't been beaten thrice. He's a more unknown quantity and it would be more exciting because of that. We know what we're getting with Paint Dry Parker and it's not very exciting nor is it top level. I would like to see Itauma in with either Usyk or Parker, whichever opportunity presents itself. Preferably Parker so the hype could dye down on the most overrated boxer in the sport.
Yes you are spot on David. Although Moses looked good, Whyte is shot and was like a rabbit in the headlights. Itauma needs tested and that does not mean throw him in with Usyk.
I don't understand why people are so against it, liven up. For Usyk: He has beaten everyone else, the only other person worthy of a shot is Parker, and beating Parker really does nothing for Usyk's legacy, beating Itauma does more as he is the best of the next generation, he is more exciting, he offers something different to Parker who has already been beaten a few times, and Usyk has already taken out this generation and can almost take out another generation with this win, and if he wins and Itauma goes on to be a legend, Usyk will always have that win over him. For Itauma: has nothing to lose, 90% of people will pick Usyk, Usyk is already a GOAT so if Itauma loses he loses to a Goat at 20 years old in his 14th fight, nothing to be ashamed of and he has another 10-15+ years still in his career, and it's a shot at 3/4 belts, if he wins then he is a legend and takes down the mighty Usyk and will be the only man to do it, and also Usyk will be gone in 1-2 years so this is his only chance to get him, sure in 2-3 years he would be more ready but Usyk will be retired by then, so he has to take it now, and if he loses then he just learns and comes back, Usyk isn't an AJ / Wilder type puncher so there isn't much long term damage danger for Itauma. For the fans: Itauma seems way more exciting than Parker, and is young and fearless, we saw Parker against AJ, went into his shell and survival mode and would probably do the same vs Usyk, Itauma gives Usyk a style he hasn't faced at HW, get it on.
Kabayel is a better challenger than Parker because he hasn't been beaten thrice and he's been knocking these fringe contender types out, not scraping past them like Parker or walking around the ring boring everyone to tears like the Wilder match. Itauma would be a better challenger than either of them simply because he's much better and he's also a lot more exciting. The point is that Usyk would be retired if Itauma is guided more slowly etc, as you said, so he should take it. Also, if he faces Parker to win a vacant belt then he would surely need to face Usyk in the next match if Usyk hasn't retired, so these are the only two roads available. He's not going to retreat and start facing the likes of Agagba and people like that like some are suggesting. He'd also bomb most of those out in quick time anyway.
true, if not Usyk next, it should be Itauma vs Parker end of this year for WBO, then winner faces Usyk next year for undisputed.
