Yeah it's called "amateur" for a reason. It'd be like sending prime Michael Jordan to play NCAA basketball.
Jalolov is one of those fighters who enjoys the "Future Champion" type of praise but will be knocked out at the first opportunity, I can't wait for that to happen...
Ivan Dychko participated in the latest competition in a very small place a few days ago. He revealed his desire to fight Jalolov a few months ago and won all the amateur boxing matches against Jalolov. Jalolov responded at the press conference of the 4.5 game that he could participate in the competition as long as he paid enough appearance fees and handed over the contract. The problem with Dychko is that without a good promotion company, he can only waste his golden years. The problem with Jalolov is that he wants both. As a professional boxer with a record of 14-0, he should have participated in professional competitions as soon as possible after announcing his retirement from amateur boxing at the Olympics last year and taking a break. He is not a full-time amateur boxer. I would not be surprised if a full-time amateur boxer quit the amateur boxing world and prepared for a professional debut in a year or two. But now he has only played one game and performed poorly. On March 21, 2025, he was interviewed by Boxing News. The background at that time was that the Olympic Committee unanimously voted to keep boxing in the Olympics. He has announced his focus on professional boxing and revealed in an interview that he has the idea of winning a third Olympic gold medal. Add to that his lack of killer instinct and his love of comfort, and it's no surprise that his career has fallen into this state. He wants a title fight against a belt holder, but he's not a boxer born in the United States or the United Kingdom. If he was from those countries, it wouldn't be surprising to arrange such an opportunity for him, but he's not.
He doesn't want it. Some people have blamed Top Rank but he only signed with them in the summer of 2023, he's literally had 3 fights with them, his previous 12 fights over a period of 5 years and his slow progress there had nothing to do with Top Rank. For him it's probably just a side hustle to make a bit of extra cash. He's shown zero desire as a pro to really progress or fight anyone decent. Until he does step up, if he ever does that is, it's a waste of time even talking about him at this point.
I'm disappointed we won't see Jalalov face the 8th best HW in Italy as it's been cancelled for some reason. I can only hope he'll face Moldova's 10th best HW instead. War Jalalov ! !!!!
He might've been pushed into fighting legit journeymen and gatekeepers (which he never has) and if he won, yes he'd probably get a title shot. He wouldn't get to jump straight from goat herder level into title fights.
He doesn't want to step up. Probably scared of losing his 0 and being exposed. I thought Hrgovic was unambitious but this dude makes him look like Mr I Want It All. I don't know why anyone is still talking about him really. He's a waste of potential and will fade away without having done anything noteworthy. Dychko is the same. So was that guy Boytsov. Remember him?
Umm... In context of Jalolov who, if he got a title shot now, would be jumping from fighting not even journeymen straight to contenders... I can't name any brit that's done that. Jalolov has little to no financial viability and he's got nowhere near the resume of even, say, Dubois before his first Usyk shot. Jalolov hasn't even done the basics of getting remotely near positioned for a title bout.
Bullying? You mean by using his reach? Cause other than that he didn't bully Torrez. He was moving a lot and staying outside.
