You’re right about that. He started with 4 world title fight cards in the US with DAZN that we could see for free on Sky Sports. Now we’re all paying subs it’s non title fights from Florida casinos .

Oh Astro, they’ve got to you :(

£400, really? That’s an astonishing amount, more than Sky Sports, more than TNT costs over a year. And all you’re essentially doing is pre-paying £280 for PPVs without any indication of quality. As much as I loathe PPV, nobody forces you to pay for shite like Sheeraz v Berlanga or Itauma v Whyte if you don’t want to. And that won’t include PBC, or if Top Rank, Hearn or TKO go rogue and decide to do their own thing when they’re not getting a big enough slice of the pie.

Another problem I see is what ends up being counted as these ‘premium’ shows. Wouldn’t surprise me if over time, the likes of Catterall v Eubank, or Dalton Smith v whoever end up there to plug some gaps, and your regular subscription becomes the cheap filler small hall shows from the UK, and the low budget ballroom shows from the States.

And one subscription without PPV is all well and good - until it isn’t. PBC thought PPV was outdated for about 5 minutes. There’s been a couple of times when Sky have said they won’t do them for the foreseeable future. Warren didn’t do PPVs on BoxNation until he decided to go to BT, Hearn said ‘PPV was dead’ - until it wasn’t.

PPV always comes back. And one day, there’ll be a super hyper mega fight that ‘just can’t be made without PPV’ - Alvarez v Jake Paul for example, and that’ll open the floodgates for everything else just like it normally does.

I can add a story I was told not so long ago about His Excellency. A person from Saudi refused to help His Excellency because he believed that it was against the law if he agreed to carry out a task. This resulted in him being fired from his job shortly afterwards and it was impossible for him to find a new job. He was banned from everywhere in Saudi. This resulted in him and his family losing their house and they had to move.

Therefore, everyone agrees with His Excellency.

    You're right :)

In principle, both Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren can start arranging PPV Events on DAZN.

I've been whispered in my ear that all big blockbuster fights like Canelo vs Crawford will be on Netflix in the future.

I was joking as you put in your post you thought 400 quid a year on crappy DAZN was decent value. We’ll have to agree to disagree.

Cracking use of £15, until the ridiculous decision was announced.

I don't get it. I just saw Itauma vs Whyte listed as PPV on DAZN. As an undercard they've got Hrgovic vs Adeleye and Ball vs Goodman. Is this really a PPV worthy card? Itauma is good but PPV for non-title fights already? Whyte is washed up. I

I mean I'd match rather watch the Benavidez vs Yarde which isn't PPV. WBA and WBC strap on the line. Undercard has Haney vs Norman jr, and Noakes vs Mason

I've been told that from now on, all future fights with Moses Itauma will be PPV on DAZN. They believe he's an up and coming superstar who can eventually sell out stadiums.

It's possible that Riyath Season and Ring Magazine cards will be included in the subscription, but Frank Warren will apparently continue to have PPVs on DAZN.

Assume this is all part of the association with Endeavour / TKO via Dana White and explains why Netflix was in bed with Jake Paul / MVP to get things off the ground. Always assumed the Tyson-Paul fight was no more than a load test for live streams as Netflix doesn't do those routinely.

I get that he's probably going to go on and do great things, just seems a bit premature to get him on PPV considering where he is at this stage of his career. I think he needs a bit more exposure personally.
