Jake Paul Phony Fights Discussion

I'd say it started with Mayweather v McGregor in 2017. Boxing champions had fought wrestlers and karate guys before but never as such a high profile and sanctioned official boxing match.

 

For sure, that's arguably what started the present crossover boxing trend. You can go back to Ali vs Inoki perhaps, as the modern impetus of this stuff.

 

Inoki initially promised Ali a predetermined match to get him to fight in Japan, but when the deal materialized, Ali's camp feared that Inoki would turn the fight into a shoot, which many believe was Inoki's intention. Ali visited a professional wrestling match involving Inoki and witnessed Inoki's grappling ability. The rules of the match were announced several months in advance. Two days before the match, however, several new rules were added which severely limited the moves that each man could perform. One rule change, specifying that Inoki could only throw a kick if one of his knees was on the ground, had a major effect on the outcome of the fight. Ali landed a total of six punches to Inoki, and Inoki kept to his back in a defensive position for almost the entire duration of the match of 15 rounds, hitting Ali with a low kick repeatedly. The bout ended in a draw, 3–3. Ali left without a press conference and suffered damage to his legs as a result of Inoki's repeated kicks.

 

Ali actually experienced serious clots in his legs from the kicks. I wonder if that actually impacted his movement in his following boxing fights.

 

Jake Paul vs Alex Peirera, who wins this?

kinda 50-50 to me. Leaning towards Peirera.

 

I want Usyk fight Jake Paul and receive a paycheck around $500M to take a dive and give the belts to Paul.

 

Pereira, I'd probably be have viewed it 50/50 in boxing a little while back, but it's been quite established now, Jake has no real power when he's facing someone who is not significantly smaller and older than he is.

He was only briefly scary when he was fighting the 5'10" and under retired MMA fighters over 40.

Now that is ridiculous. Jake would severely hurt her. I mean Shields herself was dropped by a man in sparring and then threatened to get a knife out of her car.

 

Even if she is more skilled than Paul her punches will have almost zero effect on him she might survive a couple of rounds before he pins her on the ropes or in the corner and takes her out.

In fairness that guy who dropped her looked more skilled than Paul that was a beautiful counter hook he got her with. Paul would just follow her around until he gets her pinned he is way too physically strong for her and would hurt her badly even hitting her on the gloves and arms.

 

Hahahaha... jake paul will not be amused to read that shield's sparring partners are better than him and that she is claiming to beat him .

 

Sounds like a WWE storyline.
