ATG HW: No.1 Ali ; No.2 Louis ; No.3 Usyk ; Can it be like this?

Considering Usyk destroys both and both would also be wrecked by Fury, AJ, Dubious and others ... no the list absolutely can't be like that.

I know people want to believe Ali is magical and somehow AJ or Dubious wouldn't flatten him because of skillz or some nonsense. But he doesn't hit hard enough to stop their advance and would be smashed to pieces considering his defence was also garbage, which is why he ended up with brain damage in case y'all forgot dat.

Like half of the top heavyweights in recent years and many past legends, with the others who didn't get caught often being better protected A-side fighters.

The best version of Fury; the one who made Chisora quit and comfortably outboxed Wlad with barely a serious punch taken, is light years ahead of the 21 year old 7 fight pro novice who fought McDermott or the fat exhibition clown.

Blown-up LHW Byrd wouldn't be able to cope with Fury's size, movement or do any damage to him. Tua was a 5'9 plodder. Both would have likely lost to Hrgovic.

The OP is actually underrating Usyk as an ATG having him below two heavyweights he'd certainly beat.

If we were talking about greatest fighters to have fought at HW and been HW world champions, then yes, absolutely.

But if we're talking the greatest heavyweights specifically, then definitely not

I would be hard pushed to call him one of the greatest heavyweights ever based solely on beating 3 brits in Joshua, Fury an Dubious but I can see why some might given the fights against Joshua an Fury were some of the most high profiled heavyweight fights in recent memory

 

Foreman's resume at HW is better. Also, his destruction of Frazier and Norton > AJ and Fury. Larry > Usyk in resume as well. Holyfield has wins over Bowe, Holyfield, old Foreman, Tyson and other nice wins also > Usyk's.

No I don’t agree,Joe Louis simply put is the most dominant Boxing Champion the World had has ever known with him being Heavyweight Champion from 1937-1949 with 25 consecutive title defences,giving Joe the longest reign of any Boxer in History . Then we get to Usyk a fighter without a doubt the best Heavyweight fighter of his era but with a resume of only having eight Heavyweight fights against 5 different opponents with only six Heavyweight World Title fights against three different opponents. As good as Usyk is his resume at Heavyweight,we’ll lack of a one tbh leaves him behind a lot of the recognised ATG at Heavyweight . Also let’s all remember any so called mythical H2H match ups are just a persons own opinion on how and why somebody would compare against fighters from the past .

 

If Fury was anywhere near the level that people pretend he is, he could've turned up drunk and out of shape and boxed circles around Ngannou for 10 rounds without a glove being landed on him. The fact that he got dropped by him is ridiculous, and nearly losing to him was a dreadful look for the sport. To say he lost to Wlad with barely a serious punch taken is partly true, but that is because neither landed anything of consequence for 12 rounds; it was arguably the worst heavyweight title fight of all time.

Despite Fury being grossly overrated, he actually looked like he was in cruise control against Usyk for six rounds before he started taking his eye off the ball. Fury, Joshua and Dubois would have struggled in most other eras, whereas Usyk would have been a competitor, but he would not have beaten the top-tier ATGs at HW.

I've been around long enough to hear people say this about many active fighters, from B-Hop being the greatest 160 of all time, to Beterbiev being the greatest 175 of all time, to Wlad being a top 5 ATG. The dust eventually settles once they retire after a few years. Although Usyk is a great and a guaranteed HOF, he's had 8 fights at heavyweight; and Joe Louis and Muhammad Ali are better than Daniel Dubois and Anthony Joshua.
