Jalolov has done far less as a pro than David Price... Pricey didn't deserve a title shot and nor does Jalolov.
I had pretty high hopes for him, but honestly it seems he’s just content with making a little money KOing low ranked opponents in the pro’s while keeping the title ‘Olympic Champion’ Oh Well. Won’t expect too much.
I never said he currently deserves one btw, I'm saying he won't ever even get the chance to try and earn one, wrong nationality.
I mean... Of course he doesn't right now... But then it doesn't make and sense to me to suggest he wouldn't have the opportunity to earn one - as a double gold Olympian he's certainly marketable, and they could make a 'boogeyman' narrative out of his age and lack of resume and pretend he'd been avoided all this time... People from all sorts of backgrounds and countries have made it, it feels like an excuse honestly. Yes, it's a longer road for guys who don't come from rich and enthusiastic countries... It shouldn't be, but it just is... But guys who want it will find a way - fighting more times and/or for less money while building fantasies before they make it, maybe, but it's never impossible. To me it honestly just looks like he's not really fussed... And if he's not, that's kinda sad but it's fine - and it's on him.
we will see this thread in 5 years, 10 years, 15 years etc. because mad enough i am certain i have seen this thread almost 7 years ago already
Ruslan Chagaev had all those problems getting fights....oh no he didn't. he got signed by multi promoters after falling over themselves to get his signature and taking round on a world tour years back. then settled in germany. Jalo he can sit in uzbekia. he is in the middle of the world if he wants to fight in europe, japan/china, middle east etc. light work. he just has to fight 2 contenders in a ranked org and he is fighting usyk.
Well, assuming he can beat them... And realistically two gatekeepers would probably do it. I can only assume he knows something we don't, or just truly doesn't give a ****. The idea he desperately wants to succeed and believes he can... But is only able to get pathetic opponents to sign up to fight him? I just don't buy that.
it's the Dele Alli, Nile Ranger, Ross Barkley, Saido Berahino effect. he will outwadly say he has sorted himself out and looking only for one genuine goal and people will want and hope to beleive in him. so they give them a chance and it's not due to commitment. it's that their talent has dissapated and they are spent. sold off or freed to another club and start the process on and on again till the end. he is commited to being olympic champion again for 3X. doubt he would throw that away for the sake of losing in a world title that wouldnt be that financially rewarding in comparison. there are plenty of broken bodies of his allumni who have fallen apart and would kill to be in the position he is. Majidov, Dychko, Makhmudov ETC. so...like a cigar smoking businessman of old. i think they'll keep a few tulips in the back of the shop just in case the dutch want tulips again. but yeah if he could get a fight with Toirac/ Hysa/ Hovhannisyan and he is top 5 ranked in all orgs. there are loads of very beatable fighters in the rankings. Fisher is still 15th, joseph goodall is there. i think he can beat those guys at the best of his ability in the right conditions. just read up that Jalolov is ranked in most of the orgs.
Or Ravell Morrison, perhaps! The quality beneath the top 5 or so fighters is massively lacking - it he's anywhere near as good as he looks then he should be able to make a mark in or around the top 10... But then if amateur pedigree alone meant much then loads of irrelevant fighters would've made it to the top. I just can't escape the thought that he just doesn't want it - I can't see any reason opportunities would be actively withheld from him, and he's not shown any signs of even trying to inch up on the ladder.
oh i agree. i dont think he wants it. he might entertain the thought on a random thursday. though i think he has his future but he is just dipping his toe every once in a while. if that is his plan, then honestly i think he is doing a decent job. as i said. wbc and wba have him in the top 10. ams might not mean much but if loma can get a title shot in his 2nd fight. there are mechanisms in place for that to happen. do you know what i mean? but i think he likes being unbeaten in the pro's, a domestic legend in uzbekistan and an amatuer stand out that allows us 2 to spend minutes of our day chatting about him. but yeah. he isnt about 'that' life he is about this life. edit: he is ranked 11th wbo, 12th wba, 7th wbc, wba nuttin.
just thinking about this now. this pro + Am era means we get slow debuts. there isnt much mystique or wonder about a great am fighting on a card. a fighter like viddal riley and jalolov could be on the same card and i think Riley would be top of the bill. mad to think.
Edit - I've seen your edit, below still stands, IMHO. Utterly ridiculous to think someone can get a top ten ranking without fighting a single live body as a pro, isn't it? It'd be bad enough if he'd fought a mediocre gatekeeper and struggled through... He hasn't even fought a gatekeeper, though. And it'd be bad enough if he'd beaten a couple of respectable international level journeymen.. but he hasn't fought a single one of those, either. Honestly, the WBC was an absolute joke for ranking 0-1 Ngannou in it's top ten for putting in a credible performance against a contender in Fury, but ranking Jalolov in the top ten when he hasn't even FOUGHT a proper journeyman?! Call me mad, but I think that's worse than ranking Ngannou...
