I think Usyk has won over the boxing world and become a draw on his own. I see zero reason why Usyk couldn’t sell out a stadium in London or Vegas. and hell, I like Parker. I’d love to see the buildup of an Usyk-Parker fight. Would be the most hilariously sedate, respectful stuff. If I were the promoter, I’d suggest a dance-off at the first press conference. Maybe a karaoke duet at the second.
As much as I agree that Parker probably deserves a shot, I totally get why Riyadh Season aren't keen on making this. The thought of this fight bores me to tears to be honest... I'm surprised so many on here want to see it. I said before in another post months ago, that Parker is just a poor man's Usyk. This will be an incredibly boring one-sided fight. I don't think there is anything whatsoever that Parker can do to trouble Usyk. At least when Usyk fights a puncher, there is always that question of "what if?" which makes it exciting. Or when Usyk fights someone pretty close to his level of skill in Fury (which I don't want to see again by the way, I'm just saying). If I feel this way as a die-hard boxing fan, then you can imagine how the casuals will feel. I don't think this match-up sells well... and that's what the thoughts will be. They might even be better off putting it as the co-main event to some absolute Blockbuster fight to be honest. I'd be much more intrigued seeing Usyk fight Kabayel... I'd love to see how Usyk would handle him and his incredible body-punching. I'd argue Kabayel deserves the shot even more, seeing as he bulldozed his way through THREE potential contenders, including one that Parker got dropped twice by, and could only win by a points decision. So yeah, Usyk-Parker... I mean, I'd watch it, but I can't say I'd be super excited by it.
Absolutely. would love it. im ****ing done with "i'm gonna knock him out come [number + month], *turns over table throws a water bottle*....so did i promote it well boss? ". i see a generation game or pop quiz show. or both of them on either sides of never mind the buzzcocks, have i got news for you. excellence. real promoting. get parker on Q.I.
We absolutely do not know the real reason why the were not interested in usyk-dubois and are now not interested in usyk-parker . The real reason mighz be completely different to what people believe .
I saw Junior Fa (who was in Wilder camp for the Parker fight) saying that Turki and Riyadh season were super hyped to make Joshua vs Wilder in the build up to Parker vs Wilder and that they were treating Parker as a non-factor. He said everyone was cheering and clapping like Turki is going to make this mega fight next and Junior is the only one thinking "But he hasn't beaten Parker yet..." And we all saw how that turned out. So I'm starting to think that Turki doesn't like Parker because he has spoiled his plans and refused to lose.
Interesting. I remember being absolutely convinced that Wilder is shot and has no chance against Parker before the fight and was ready to call out the sheik for believing wilder would simply win and that I do not expect him to be so misguided. But then I saw that Wilder was the strong betting favorite. Never would have guessed that. Right now I see wilder basically 50-50 against Johnny Fisher. Forget Wilder...
Turki is being a stupid jerk if he is trying to stop Usyk from fighting Parker. But Warren can make the fight without Turki if he wants - he's a very wealthy promoter.
Nah I don't think the fight was rigged, more that Parker has been consistently under estimated. He was supposed to lose to Wilder, to Zhang and Dubois, or Bakole (I suspect Turki thought he had the best chance of beating Parker) They just genuinely didn't think he would beat Wilder.
I hope Warren isn't trying to set up an Itauma Parker fight. As much as i would like to see Parker Usyk, i don't see Usyk taking it. In that circumstance, i see Parker being given the WBO belt. I would prefer Parker defend it vs Wardley, Kabayel, Hrgovic, Okolie etc. Build out a legacy for himself by consistently defending his belt for the next 2-3 years. Itauma needs more experience before fighting for a belt.
Its going to be Itauma, he is WBO number 1 somehow. But I agree in that id much prefer it to be against a more seasoned opponent like Hgrovic or Okolie.
