    Jones and Arguello are the immediate two who come to mind who were brilliant at throwing straight rights to the body.

    You know, I love the right hand to the body Burley throws against Billy Smith. It's the last punch he introduces to the fight and the one that really ties Smith, finally, into a big knot. The horrible thing about Burley is that all his punches look like each other and he famously feinted well. So the virtual threat is awful because he's so well balanced literally anything could be coming. Still, he was slow in introducing the right hand the body (Smith actually throws more of them in the first half of the fight) And was proven right in the sense that the only time Smith tips him back on his heels is with a counter right hand to the head, after Burley tried a right to the body. But he gets it in there and Smith ends up dipped with elbows blow because that's literally all four quadrants plus the middle he is vulnerable in (the left uppercut to the body is the frightening one that goes mostly dead centre). It's a good fight for this because both fighters throw the punch and it's a very important late strategic nail in the coffin for the overmatched (but underrated) Smith. Burley is so brilliant with this punch, though he doesn't throw it that much. So often it is the virtual threat with him.

    I never saw anyone throw a better straight rt hand to the body than Tony Zale. His technique was flawless.

    I actually came to mention that bout of Arthur’s, that was a good fight, Artur fights quite professionally.

    You’re more likely to see it in a modern iteration as folks square up more these days… body jabs and straights to the body were less common and much, much less effective on guys who stood proper, however if you throw your right to there heart… Liston I believe threw them at Patterson.

    Don't laugh but Francois Botha threw a great right to the body. He hurt Moorer consistently with it.

    Alexis Arguello hit Mancini with one to the sternum and you could practically see his chest cave in. I thought it might come out the other side. He was deflated after that.

    Alas Charley came along too late to fight Mysterious Billy, so this is Oakland Billy.

    Mysterious would have bitten his nose off like Hannibal Lecter if Burley would have tried it against him.
