Matthew McKinney!! He is 22-10 and has been knocked out in 1 or 2 rounds by every opponent you've heard of before. He is also 44 years old. According to boxrec hes the 127th best HW in the US. For context Wilders recent victim is 75th.

Poor guys getting his final semi viable years as a boxer wasted. Whats messed up is he was trying to get a fight with Okolie and this is the best alternative they could find.

On the bright side Ortiz getting his 30th knockout is now a sure thing.

Luis Ortiz was a decent fighter in his day however long ago that was but it is mainly his own fault for not taking on better fighters in his career other than Wilder and Ruiz.

He wasn't trying to fight Okolie.

There is no evidence that Luis Ortiz has regressed significantly. Until such a thing is proven in the ring then we can only assume that he's still a top notch heavyweight, after all there are no young lions trying to make their name off of his because they know that he's too dangerous.

Dude, he got dropped by a jab from Martin. His skill is still there, but his durability and legs are gone. He's done at the top level. He's like 50 years old

The Martin fight was also over 3 1/2 years ago!

Yeah, you'd assume the great McKinney having retired, but maybe he wanted a last glory run at a soft touch like Ortiz.

My hypothesis regarding that fight is that Martin is an underrated fighter who was also an improved fighter coming into that fight and that his style was also wrong for Luis. Where are the hyenas if the meat on Luis's bones are ready for the picking? Any good boxer realizes that the risk vs reward ratio for Luis simply isn't there.
