So a similar thing happened with Ali but it only an issue when it's someone like Usyk? Figures Just like how like when Usyk invoked the WBO's rule re. when one of their champions from a lower division moves up in weight to the division above they automatically become the mandatory challenger in that division and receive a title shot just once, and this is despite him having 2 fights at the new weight after moving up to HW and not receiving a title shot for 2 years, it's a issue But when Crawford invokes the same rule three times at different weights (140, 147 and 154) without having a single fight at either of those respective weights before receiving his title shots all of which he received in a combined 28 months in total (5 for the first one, 10 for the second, and 13 for the 3rd) no one has an issue with him ''not earning'' his shots like they did with Usyk at HW And even worse Crawford is about to waltz into a title shot at 168 for all four belts, two divisions North of the division he's just come up from, without ever having beaten a 160 pounder, let alone a 168 Shame on you people. Shame on you No, really.. shame on you Usyk is an Olympic gold medalist World Amateur Championships gold medalist European gold medalist Winner of the World Boxing Series WBC CW champion WBA CW champion IBF CW champion WBO CW champion Winner of the Muhammad Ali trophy UNDISPUTED CW CHAMPION WBC HW champion WBA HW champion IBF HW champion WBO HW champion UNDISPUTED HW CHAMPION UNDISPUTED HW CHAMPION x 2 2 x Fighter of the Year These are all hard facts and that's a hard fact as well. And in addition to all of the above, as if that wasn't impressive enough He's won and unified all his world titles in his opponent's backyards sans one which was still on the road Never had home advantage or a home country ref in any of his world title fights or fights at the world level sans possibly Poland for Dubois 1 and has only had a combined 2 home country judges in all of them In five weeks from now he will become the 5th oldest HW champion of all time The 2nd oldest unified HW champion of all time The oldest undisputed HW champion of all time And the four HW champs who were older at the time were all natural HWs, three of them being 240-250 + giants, and the other one was 238-243 when he won and lost the title Never been knocked down or stopped as a pro despite running a gauntlet of savage punchers, KO artists, and legit bangers, literally and P4P a bunch of the hardest punchers in the sport, many of whom way bigger than him And this is despite him winning all his fights via the application of pure skill and being one of the least dirty fighters of all time and employing legal forms defence to avoid getting hit and knocked down or KO'd which requires actual real skill ie. no excessive holding, no jab and grab, running, ducking his head below waist level etc. How many other greats and defensive masters can you think of who didn't do those things? Many of them did them an awful lot and best believe it saved them from KDs, stoppage losses or being knocked out
He's technically a 2x Undisputed HW Champion, but it feels strange to say that because he beat a man he had already beaten to become Undisputed a 2nd time. Plus he's undefeated. So it's odd. The boxing organizations are corrupt and the fact that they forced him to vacate his title is shameful. Stripping a champion is justified when you have a cowardly boxer who sits on a title for years with little activity and ducks the best competition out there. Usyk fights anybody, anywhere. There is no need to strip an honorable champion like that.
Forgot to say. Out of the 4 organisations I still get the feeling that the WBO are still “The spare pricks at the wedding party”. Can’t help it. Just think they’re not needed to become UNDISPUTED. Just my opinion.
He is both a 2 x undisputed HW champion and he is also technically a 2 x undisputed HW champion So if Beterbiev beats Bivol in the rubber match will he be a 2 x undisputed LHW champion or not? I get Beterbiev lost the belts in the ring but if he wins them back it will still be the exact same guy he already beat, assuming Bivol still holds all the belts come rubber match time that is. I agree with your sentiments re. Usyk and that he shouldn't have been stripped in the first place but he was and then he beat the reigning IBF champion and #2 ranked HW in the world to become undisputed again And people keep conveniently ignoring the fact that Dubois was the #2 HW in the world and earned that ranking by coming off three impressive KO or stoppage wins, two over undefeated opponents, both of whom arguably having the best chins in the division, two of them being ranked 3-6 at HW at the time, and one a former three-belt unified champion
I agree and as I said, he is technically a 2x Undisputed Champion. It's just, like I said, weird and unnecessary for a boxing org to strip an honorable champion who fights anybody, anywhere like that. It should have never come to that in the first place. Beterbiev lost his belts in the ring and should he win them back in the ring he would be 2x Undisputed. Although, at his age, I don't think he's capable of mustering the performance necessary to win them back.
Agreed. They stripped Dariusz of two of his world titles so they could wrap them round Roy's waist ASAP and Roy has the worst chin of any combat sports athlete, male or female, in history Speaking of Beterbiev This content is protected
Rhe reason Wlad never attempted to be undisputed is that most of the time his brother was the other champ. The rest of the time they were passing it between Ruiz, Valuev, and whatever other bums would sell their soul to don king.
