The best British boxer ever.

Jack 'Kid' Berg has one of the best single wins ever by a British Boxer (Canzoneri). He also beat Kid Chocolate. Seaman Tommy Watson is also another very underrated British fighter (has a win over Fidel LaBarba and performed very well on the world level of the time, including against Kid Chocolate. He was also extremely dominant over the very strong British scene of the time).

It’s probably Lennox Lewis by resume, Fitzsimmons and Calzaghe have great resumes also, but Lewis’ is better, he cleaned up and proved he was the best of his era by defeating every man he faced.

 

and yet there is a very real point, that two of them don't qualify, certainly not Fitz, as not one single part of his Boxing and damn near all of his life has no British influence what so ever... LL's Boxing is split with Canada.

 

They were born in the UK and lived there until 12 and 10 respectively, yes they may not have learned most of their boxing there, but loads of fighters were based in the USA for their careers, like Golovkin, but he’s Still Kazakhstani by nationality.

 

leaving as a child or young boy, as Fitz did, and all of you're Boxing is solely & only in that other Country to which you moved too is quite different than from leaving as a young man, who had much or a good chunk of their Boxing honed in you're Birth place, is not at all the same thing.

What is the qualification they require?

 

No British influence? Born in England. His mother was Cornish (England). His Irish father settled in Cornwall (England). English Jem Mace (the great bare knuckle champion) was an influence on Fitzsimmons & his career. After his retirement, Fitzsimmons moved back to England and settled in London. During his career he toured the Anglo speaking world with still (at the time) very deep connections to Britain. Every official site i look up Fitzsimmons on cites him as British. That's a whole lot of non influence.. he's never once been quoted renouncing or dismissing his British heritage. Stupid statement.
