Allen is not better than erik teper. Takam, wallichsh and wach would also probably beat allen.

The last guy that beat mak would have stopped allen quicker.

Ortiz was better than all those guys and Allen did okay vs him, Allen has a better chin than Mak.

Ortiz is pretty much a counter puncher. He works off your output. Dave allen had little output in that fight.

He went from fighting jason gavern to suddenly fighting dillon whyte and luiz ortiz. I get it he was an opponent back then...still reckless matchmaking from hearn. In recent times daves built a decent little following etc and david price pretty much showed us his level. Hes took beatings with his durability pretty much shown hes not good enough at a certain level and now been thrown in with a guy thats 6 foot 6 that can punch off the back of beating a guy that was a novice in the grand scheme of things where his gameplan in the first fight again was to take a bit of a beating before coming on strong.

Silly matchmaking considering he has a following.

His careers shown hes not quite good enough and hes took a bit of a shellacking. But he does have enough passing interest to put him in with a much safer opponent at this stage of his career.

Hes going to end up punch drunk soon enough. If maks not injured or finished he,ll batter allen. Should be kept away from guys that can punch at this stage. 4 of his last 8 fights have been 4 rounders. Which pretty much tells you what you need to know.

Out of a list of opponents. That name should never have been on the list. In comparison to say joshua who had the cards...hearn always tried to pick safe bets.

Dave allen now holds the cards on an albeit much smaller scale but ends up with a 6 foot 6 puncher on the list because daves expendable.

Allen doesnt need a fight like this at this stage of his career.

The big Mac is pretty dreadful though isn't he. He is almost panto villain Ivan Drago, robotic, big swinging, putting power into everything. Whisper it, big Davie Price in his pomp would have decapitated the big fella.

Is it a big ask? Of course it is. The things Allen, who is somewhere between British and European level, and nothing wrong with that, has are a bloody good chin and a decent body attack if he works close. He has a better engine than he looks like he should have and hos only big issue seems to be an inability to consistently build on the opportunities that have fallen his way when his attributes have come together.

If Daves chin negates Mac's power, this could be another upset....

He had Takam down twice and won a decision which is probably his best win. Allen would have lost to that version of Takam.

Looking at his fights, he struggles more against illusive fighters and taller fighters. Even in the Pavel Sour fight you could see he was open and struggling even though he got the first round KO. But Allen is neither.

I understand it is intriguing now because Makhmudov has lost two fights via KO. The Vianello fight suggests serious deterioration in his level, but Vianello is very tall and quick and fairly illusive. That is the unknown here. Has he deteriorated enough to lose to Allen? I think Allen is not the type of fighter here to beat him.

I thought Eddie was going to cash in on the Allen hype post Fisher but this is a tricky one for him. Makhmudov is the favourite but with the home support, I'm sure Allen can pull off the upset. I'll go for Allen to win by KO.

Fallen down the rabbit hole of listening to a Hearn IFL interview… how is Allen ‘one win from Joshua or Parker’ after beating an area level gimmick ffs.

Reminded myself when I never watch them anyone.

I liked Allen in both fights. Just forgot to lay some quid.

If the odds are juicy for this fight he has coming up, I’ll lay some lumber.
