A prime Ali who caught Liston with a counter right while Liston ran into it ? This is a goofy criticism. Foreman said a lot of things but when he's talking off experience then it's relevant. Liston displayed a good chin otherwise.
Irrelevant to even mention. One of Listons final fights when he was a beltless old man, just like how you claim a certain someone got old overnight when they got obliterated by an underdog
2nd to last fight and he was about 37, so the point still stands. Using a shot Liston to claim a prime Liston isn't tough enough to slug it out with Foreman is nonesense, especially when Foreman himself sparred the guy and praised him for being able to force him on the backfoot due to his power, strength and overall coordination His words over yours, you really don't have a clue here
Sorry my clueless friend, in his second to last fight, Liston got flattened by a different guy, Leotis Martin. But thanks for highlighting yet another of Liston's knockout losses. This is the guy that you think will slug it out with Foreman? take a seat and relax.
You usually post sardonic comments about past prime performances so I assumed "Marty" was referring to Martin, the only KO loss besides Ali. Liston beat Marshall twice in rematches, KO'd him once and beat harder punchers like Williams and Valdes, so it's not that relevant, especially when Foreman got dropped by Young, Ali and Lyle to compensate I will take Foremans personal experience over a couch potatos opinion lol. He's the one who got in the ring with Liston, so his opinion has to be more valid than yours. I think Liston was old by the time they sparred too
STOP PRESS! Liston managed to beat an actual Acme paint salesman who was only a part time boxer for much of his career! Momentous win. But of course that doesn't change the fact that Liston got his jaw bust by a ~ 180lb fighter I will take "Foreman talks a lot of nonsense" over your opinion of his opinion. GF often bigs up his opponents, it is a known fact. I well remember him talking about how big and scary and tough Pierre Coetzer was, shortly before getting into the ring with him and stopping him. GF often did this.
And yet Williams who was bigger, faster and more explosive couldn't KO Liston in 2 fights. Foreman also spoke highly of Williams power like several others. That's still your opinion lol. You stated Foreman was saying that before the fight ? Well he didn't spar him now did he ? That probably just his perception because Coetzer slugged it out with Bowe like a madman Foreman is the one who got in the ring with an old Liston in 1969 and had problems, and his highlights on the sparring clearly reflect Listons obvious traits as a champion; hard jab, power in both hands, long arms, good fundamentals, abnormally strong, so not only does the logic check out, it's also just his words over yours
Foreman once said that he wouldn't land a punch on Fury and Wilder would have him in danger since round 1, I hope you guys take those words into consideration as well.
