I don't understand why people keep making silly threads like this. Why is it when a modern fighter gets some success people feel the need to discredit past great fighters ? There's also alot of silly posts here saying "Lewis has a bum chin" Lewis fought some of the biggest punchers of his era like Ruddock, Mason, Bruno, Briggs, Morrison, Tua, who all had high KO ratios. And Lewis did take good punches off Mason, Bruno, Briggs, even Tua landed some good left hooks early on. You don't have a bum chin if you face some of the biggest Heavyweight punchers in history and take multiple shots from them. Yeah Lewis got caught with a blind counter punch he didn't see coming from McCall. And he stupidly offered his chin on a platter to Rahman with his hands down and paid for it. But Lewis did normally show an above average chin yeah it isn't granite by any means but more often than not it got him out of any sticky situations. Could Usyk beat Lewis ? Possibly. We don't know how Lewis would deal with an elite southpaw like Usyk. But Usyk also hasn't fought any great Heavyweights either Lewis is a level above Fury, Joshua, Dubois. Whatever your opinion is Usyk certainly wouldn't destroy Lewis and vice a versa that Lewis wouldn't destroy Usyk either. They're both great fighters so let's show respect to both fighters for their achievements and skills and stop making silly disrespectful threads like this.
I think that could be a reaction to old heads discrediting modern fighters all the time. Two sides of the same biased coin.
Usyk obviously can win this fight, but it wouldn't be an easy task. The best way to win for Usyk is actually to take Lewis into the late rounds. Lennox had never stopped any opponent past 8th round, and Usyk has better stamina than any Lewis' opponents (better skills and ring IQ as well). Add to that Usyk's southpaw stance, and he's a very hard task to solve for Lennox. On the other hand, Lewis had many tools as well - a big, powerful, strong HW who could put his punches in series. And Lewis was dirty fighter who wouldn't mind breaking the rules if it will help him in the fight.
Lewis got knocked out multiple times and rocked in several others. And not by fighters who were known for being hard punchers like Rachman and McCall. Lewis can take a punch even from heavy hitters ONLY if he sees it coming, and even then it's a gamble. I've seen enough of both fighters during their primes (Usyk is still in his) to know Usyk is clearly the more intelligent fighter who is more than capable of landing punches on Lewis that he doesn't see coming. And that would result in a McCall style stoppage. Usyk has proven he is more than capable of handling big tall fighters and beating them at their own game. And I do believe Usyk is leagues above Lewis in mental toughness, a trait that contributed to his success against larger men. Nobody should forgive Lewis for running away from a Vitali rematch. He had a chance to leave no doubt, but instead left his confidence in the trash knowing he would likely lose.
Usyk gives Lennox a boxing lesson and lands heavy shots when the bigger man gets tired, convincingly beating him. I’m not sure about a KO, Usyk wouldn’t need to take chances to beat Lewis by UD. Either way, he’d give Lewis a sound and thorough beatdown. I’m not sure how much longer Usyk can continue fighting at this level but it’s fun to watch while it lasts. He’s a generational talent who would give any HW champion in history (including prime Ali) a very difficult night. Watch old fights from the 70’s, most big guys moved slowly and had very low stamina and defense. People don’t want to admit it but Usyk would soundly beat many of the HW’s from the 70’s they put on a pedestal. Remember when everyone was predicting Usyk would be crushed by the likes of Fury, AJ and other modern day boxing giants? How did that work out for you?
There would be 97% less content on this forum. Lennox was superior to Fury and Usyk vs Fury was a competitive set of fights. LL could beat Usyk based on that simple but undeniable logic, the reverse too, but there is no way Usyk destroys Lewis.
I wouldn't go as far to say Usyk would ''destroy'' Lewis but I think he stands a very good chance of outboxing him and if anyone is getting knocked out here it's the guy who was one punch sparked out/one punch knocked senseless by 2 fighters Usyk would box the ears off, not the guy who has never been knocked out, let alone one punch KO'd. Lewis was also KO'd in the amateurs. That's never happened to Usyk despite having almost 4 x the amount of amateur fights as Lewis did AJ, Hrgovic, Big Joe and Miller are all giants who are way bigger, heavier and supposedly more powerful than Usyk (some are obviously much more powerful) but none of them could even legitimately drop Dubois, let alone knock him out but the much smaller Usyk did x 2 when in his mid to late 30s so don't write off the little guy's chances of getting Lewis out of there, especially down the stretch when Lewis tires from missing more than he ever has in his career We've seen Usyk slay SHW sized giants many times but we have never once seen Lewis slay a slick southpaw, let alone one as fast, elusive and clever as Usyk who would pose him the kind of stylistic problems he's literally never seen before
Sadly, that's the current state of the forum and it will remain this way until somebody does something to improve things.
The difference is, those who have been around for a while have actually seen and experienced both sides of the coin.
errr McCall and Rahman, were actually known to be very hard punchers, so no idea what you are talking about here. Last time I checked Usyk won a hard fought SD against a big stiff robot like AJ, yet apparently he knocks out Lewis. Ye ok. Lewis would out box him and good chance of stopping him also. You guys acting as if Usyk is dominating when he struggled to beat fat Fury and robot AJ. Recency bias with this dude is hilarious.
maybe if LL came in from the afterparty wrap of some **** movie with his dick still wet without tucking up his dreds and drinking a half gallon of rum and smoking a good quarter the same morning...then LL comes back and poor ol' Usyk gets ktfo in the rematch
