Jerry Quarry turns pro in 2019. If we use the 195-200 pound Quarry from the late 60s and early 70s, how would he do in the cruiserweight division? Does he even beat Usyk?

Literally today’s crusierweight division, he probably beats all but Opetaia, but from a few years ago, when Usyk and Briedis were around, he loses to both of those IMO, both have ATG level skill, including Briedis, who was an underachiever IMO.

He is not beating Usyk. Usyk has the southpaw advantage, is harder hitting and overall stronger than Quarry. Quarry could make it competitive with his counter punching but i think he gets stopped late.

Breidis is also a bit too powerful and durable though Quarry can make it competitive.

Today, he probably gets out gunned by Opetaia.

However, Quarry is better than Zurdo IMO and would decision him. I also favour Quarry over any cruiserweight today not named Opetaia.

Probably rules the division after Opetaia moves up.

If Quarry was around today, and lived clean, with modern PED knowledge and weight cutting, he could probably make 175 on a day before weigh in, and be around 190 or more by fight time. He'd be leaner, stronger, and quicker than he ever was. If he fought at Cruiserweight he'd still be fighting taller, longer fighters (the same size or bigger than he actually fought) who would out weigh him by the time they got in the ring by 10-15 pounds. Giving up size fight after fight is tough and increases wear and tear. Of course Quarry's out of ring lifestyle didn't help him either.

For me, the best Quarry I've ever seen on video was when he was young, and lean (193 pounds) vs. Alex Miteff. Later, when he weighed in the upper 190s he didn't carry the weight like he did in the Miteff fight. Today, if he gained muscle, while cutting fat, he'd be able to dry out and lose weight more effectively because muscle contains more water than fat.

I’m guessing Jerry Quarry would have done very well in every cruiserweight era since the division was formed in the early 1980s. There would always be a few guys here and there that he wouldn’t beat but I can see him always being a solid top 3 with some brief periods of even being #1.

Quarry becomes the Cruiserweight goat, according to newgens.

I think so. Jerry might have had a chance if he caught Evander extremely early in Holy’s career but by about 1987 onward that would have been a very hard match for him to win.

Opetaia beats Quarry based on what, his big win over Briedis? a guy who's 39.

i understand he has a paper thin resume. But he has really quick hands, is a massive hitter with both hands and is solid fundementally. Add the fact that he is a leftie, it will be very difficult for Quarry to deal with him.

Would you favor Quarry over Jake Paul?

Quarry would knock Jake Paul out of the ring.
