Alemán is Agüero's fourth Mexican opponent, and like his predecessors a bit of a step up in class for the young Argentinian prospect. Agüero's domestic opposition has been dire, with a combined 50-81-16 record - whereas the quartet of Mexicans boast a far more robust 56-12-7.

 

It isn't horrible, they've mostly fought cleanly without excessive clinches or fouling and there aren't too many lulls - but they're both sort of defensive minded counter-punchers so it's felt kind of like light sparring without any real drama.

50-45 Agüero, starting to work Alemán's body a bit, but still not pressing as hard as he could.

 

Yeah thats my thoughts exactly. This feels more like dudes doing light work in the gym than an actual bout. I can appreciate tactical fights as much as the next guy but c'mon, act like you wanna win for goodness sake

Still though, least it ain't a messy hug fest. I'd rather watch light sparring than that kinda ****

Somebody keeps making announcements over the PA between rounds. It doesn't sound like Spanish, maybe Arabic? Guessing it might be open scoring, even though it's a WBA event and that's more of a WBC thing.

 

Wouldn't shock me if they were just listing off the celebrities in attendance. The whole first half hour of this card was jamming a camera into the faces of people in the VIP section.

 

Alemán went through a rough two-year patch from August of 2019 until August of 2021, going 1-3 and incurring all his professional losses to date (including the one stoppage, to mysterious Mexican southpaw Alfredo Mozart "El Latigo" Noriega Gómez - who came in 6-2 and scored the minor upset KO and has never fought again since ) - but in the last four years he is 9-0 with eight stoppages.

Unless he can produce a hell of a come from behind one-hitter, that streak is about to end as he's suffering a shutout on my card.

Agüero has kept a measured pace through eight, so he doesn't look even remotely at risk of gassing out.

Fight ain't over I'm just telling you what's gonna happen. I'm barely paying attention at this point

 

Agüero boxing like a kid who's more than okay with letting his KO rate drop to 50%. (which it will in about ten minutes; he's currently 13-0 with seven kayos)

 

First fight of the night ends in an NC, second a fun but one sided beat down, now sparring. Man I really hope the next two fights are better.

 

Entire front row is just sitting there with their arms folded, eyes glazed over.
