Jones had plenty of skill and speed to outbox the 1991 Foreman who fought Evander. Only problem is I don’t know how his chin would hold up if he got caught square with something big. And I’m not sure it’s reasonable to expect that he’d go a full 10 or 12 rounds without ever getting tagged.

Conclusion: I don’t know how it ends.

Foreman doesn't win a second of this.

Foreman catches him at some point with his hands low. RJJ was great but by 2003, his reflexes were in decline even though they were largely there.

Foreman is a legit 6'3 with long arms. What are the odds he isn't going to land a big punch at some point over 12 rounds?

IMO Foreman stops him late and i love RJJ.

Foreman in 1990 was fairly more capable then the Foreman who was champ.

How does RJJ deal with a jab that could knock him out? RJJ is too small. RJJ does not Holyfield or even Moorers chin.

And if Roys doing good hes in even more danger. Holyfield knew he was in danger and fought accordingly. But Moorer thought he was winning. Roy doesn't have the chin of either. A wakeup call is liable to put him to sleep. And if hes not doing good well he already asleep.

Roy would probably have his moments but he’s walking a tightrope from first to last bell - I think he falls off that rope at somewhere around the 1/2 way 3/4 mark.

Ruiz is Roy’s HW benchmark and that isn’t saying a lot but that single fight seems to have gained Roy far more mileage in HW fantasy match ups than is warranted - just imo.

I’m inclined to agree. There were lots of huge paydays for Roy at heavyweight but he even said himself that he opted out of that division because it wasn’t worth the risk with some of those big guys. Obviously Foreman wasn’t one of them by that point because he was long retired but the principle of the matter is the same. He didn’t want to get nailed by hard hitting 240 plus lbs men

Totally agree. For Roy’s intents and purposes, Ruiz fit like a custom made glove. An impressive win all the same but not worthy of the heady extrapolations otherwise - just imo.

Look I don’t like Jones’s chances… but I saw a morbidly obese Qawi basically make GF look silly till he gassed out and got Kidney punched into submission lol. I think if GF is shooting straight and the ref keeps the game “square” no dirty stuff then Jones has a shot he is levels on levels more skilled.

HBO wins, the fight could be billed "Clash of the Commentators"

    Amazing name.

OT: On one hand Morrison managed to move and box Foreman up to a decision. On the other hand, much as people make fun of him Morrison is a lot tougher than RJJ is and had the power to at least get Foreman’s attention.

I think RJJ schools and bruises Foreman up for rounds while getting subtly broken down with stiff jabs and hard body shots, until Foreman eventually times the right cross and knocks his face off of his head.

Even when Foreman lost in his comeback he was still landing a high percentage of his punches.

I can't see a 5'11 193 pound RJJ being able to take 100+ punches from Foreman.

RJJ wins the early rounds with his speed but gets caught at some point and that's all she wrote.

See Jones way in front on the cards, until George manages to catch him cleanly.

    And he will eventually..
