Usyk vs Gassiev 2

Gassiev would have even less ideas and success at heavyweight than he had at Cruiserweight. Usyk would honestly probably have a better, more competitive fight with current Briedis if we are digging up his Cruiserweight opponents.

 

Big fan of Gassiev but this would be a major disappointment in lieu of Parker/Kabayel. I guess it would be preferable to any of the other Usyk rematches you could make at heavyweight (Joshua III, Fury III, Dubois III, Chisora II, Hunter II, or, lmao, Witherspoon II) but meh. Gassiev really doesn't deserve a HW title shot based on his 5-1 run in the division...even extending that to 6-1 as he'll presumably knock out Wawrzyk. I'd almost rather see Usyk take on Wilder or Itauma, since at least they're fresh match-ups for him.

But anything short of Parker/Kabayel is a disappointment, to some degree.

 

Gassiev is what he is. Great cruiserweight. Mediocre heavyweight.
It wasn't hard to predict how the Wallin fight was going to go
He isn't old though, he could still do something

 

It's funny really, Briedis is the one fight everyone would have loved a rematch of
That ship has long sailed sadly. Might be interesting to see Opetaie, but he would need a few step-up fights to legitimize himself at heavy, and there just isn't time

 

Gassiev/Wilder on the other hand.......

Gassiev has shown nothing at HW to deserve it

 

Usyk would outclass him and maybe even stop him in the later rounds...

If Usyk fights Gassiev or Wilder or anyone unworthy, he should be stripped of all four belts immediately.

 

Gassiev lost to Otto Wallin two fights back. Unless it is a non-title bout he has no business in the ring with Usyk.

 

Beterbiev is a far more compelling match than most are willing to admit. Even at 40 I think he causes Usyk far more problems than Gassiev does.

Its funny cause he gets 2 HW contenders for the price of one because this makes Gassiev a HW contender and makes his 1st fight againt Gassiev a fight against a HW contender.
