The thing is, Lewis dropped the IBF belt after beating Tyson and pursuing a rematch with him, which was pointless. He ended up fighting Vitali, so fair play to him, but choosing a rematch with a shot Tyson who he just turned into a punching bag, instead of facing your number 1 contender (mandatory challenger as well), may be considered a duck.
But he dropped the belt AFTER he already fought Tyson and was eyeing a rematch with him, which was a completely pointless cash grab.
What does Toney's 2000s run have to do with the post-Klitschko era? Martin and Stiverne accomplished very little in their own eras whereas Rahman won the championship by knocking out Lewis. So I don't see any basis for comparison. If they kayoed a prime Fury or Usyk that would be comparable to what Rahman did. Povetkin won every single round against Donald on all the judges scorecards and stopped Byrd. Maybe you are confusing him with someone else?
No, Usyk lost a razor-close decision to a much more experienced Porter in the US who took up boxing at 4 y/o not 15 y/o like Usyk
Be a fantastic mythical fight. I stopped reading at page 2 as some responses come across as casual fans looking for a bite. Lennox Lewis working off the jab against a another great technician like Usyk would simply imo come down to the judges and a tight decision either way, Lewis like Usyk a very good judge of range. Be a fight for the purists.
We can't do it all night, as said, the context is Lewis has been knocked out 3 times in a division he's huge for, Usyk hasn't been knocked out even by giants who are much or way bigger than him. Lewis was literally one punch HL reel KO'd/TKO'd x 2 in the midst of his prime by fighters he was bigger or much bigger than who Usyk would box the ears off. Even this near 39 y/o version Again, Usyk lost a razor-close decision to a much more experienced Porter in the US. They were both MWs then, 165 with same day weigh ins. Usyk was still growing and he obviously grew a lot bigger. There's nothing embarrassing about that loss and it's not the flex people think it is Andre Ward lost to 140 pounder Tim Bradley in the amateurs but strangely no one ever mentions that
Do people not understand how difficult it is to 1. Keep constantly moving buzzing around like a 220lb fly from round 1-12 like Usyk is here? 2. How difficult it is to fight someone who is doing that who is faster than you? Lewis has never seen anything like this and if you don't believe it would cause him huge problems then you don't know anything about the sport Lewis would swinging and missing loads and it would drain him mentally and physically But Usyk is faster than all those guys doe. Yeah, and he's faster than Lewis was too This content is protected
Yeah but Lewis also took big shots from Bruno, Tua, Tyson, Vitali, Mercer and the like without folding. Bringing up these losses make no sense in any kind of context, especially when they’ve been both avenged brutally. It doesnt prove that Usyk is better or that Lewis is glass-chinned, and I say this as someone who has Usyk above Lewis in h2h. Its as valid as Usyk getting slapped around by lil Timmy.
It makes perfect sense. People are acting like Usyk, who again has never been knocked out, is suddenly going to fold under Lewis' power whilst ignoring the fact only one of them has been KO'd x 3 all by smaller or much smaller guys despite him being huge for the weight. And he was knocked out by fighters even every Lewis fan knows Usyk would box the ears off Usyk isn't the one whose punch resistance should be brought into question here he's taken big shots from god knows how many KO artists and legit punchers, many way bigger than him, and never been knocked out And Lewis avenged one of those loses to someone who was in no fit state to be in the ring at the time
Lewis is the one whose power is a factor here, I don’t think even you would deny that. I get that Usyk is your bf and everything but you don’t need to project and bring up irrelevant points to defend him whenever he is mentioned, your argument doesnt even make any sense here. Lewis has never been KO’d by a long range point-fighter either, the point is that one of them is known to hit like a truck and the other is a point-fighter, the guy who goes for the KO more has a higher chance of getting it, I dont see whats wrong about people predicting a KO win for Lennox goddamn Lewis of all people, whats next, Foreman shouldnt be predicted to win by KO? Wladimir? McCall always looked like that when he was getting slapped around.
