Not so sure about this fight. Id give the edge to Margo...just because hes got a granite chin and can twart Jackson early assault.

I see this going the way of Jackson/McCallum.. McCallum was able to withstand Jacksons bombs early and went on wear out Julian.

Now McCallum is possibly the greatest technician in the history of this sport..so Im in by no way comparing Margo to him...but Margos chin and workrate are two factors that he has over Julian

Its a style thing with this one...after Cotto, I cant underestimate Margo

    don't get all defensive

I'm saying that Santos rocking Margarito has nothing to do with wether or no Jackson would knock Margo out. And I specifically said Santos did rock Margo, but that it wasn't very bad (re-read my post)

I have that fight on my comp, and Margo was off balance for an instant then went right back to work.

Why do people think power will work on a guy like Margarito? Hasn't he proven to you already that this sort of approach is nothing but fail against him?

The guys who have beaten Margarito were not harder punchers, just bigger and meatier, able to absorb what he dished out. Santos landed a perfect shot on the temple, 10 lbs heavier, and had Margarito wobbled for a whole 3 seconds. Mind you Santos has a decent punch of his own.

Jackson was a puncher who couldn't take what was coming back at him. And with all that heavy leather he'd have little left in the late rounds. He was not as small and elusive as Cotto. Jackson was like a poor man's Trinidad. Stringy and powerful but also vunerable, moreso than Trinidad himself.

I think the only way power comes into play against Margarito is against a guy who would carry a heavy punch at middleweight. Like a Kelly Pavlik, Arthur Abraham or Thomas Hearns type. Not Jackson. Jackson would just be hitting a brick wall no different than any other puncher who tried to dent Margarito.

I'm pretty sure Jackson would carry a punch at middleweight :nut

I didn't say carry a punch. I said carry a heavy punch. Big difference there.

I'm pretty sure it would be a heavy one too, by any definition.

Jackson was a HUGE puncher at 154, just like Hearns was at welter. And then you go ahead and mention Hearns.

Hearns carried 160 very well. He was a tall guy with a wide frame. Jackson was like Trinidad in that he was 5'10 but not a wide frame. He was wirey. Sure he punched hard for his weight but that isn't going to frighten a guy like Margarito. He knows all about getting punched in the head. He loves that ****.

Not by a guy like Jackson he doesn't. It is illogical to think he could take many of those punches on a consistent basis, just because he has shown a great chin at welter and on occasion at 154 against lesser fighters/punchers.

Many? What many are you talking about here? How many times do you think Jackson is gonna load up on that skull before he can't load up anymore?

And why is Santos a lesser fighter? Didn't he just knock Alcine out with one punch?

You can't compare Santos' power to Jackson's because he knocked out Alcine, and this is coming from an Alcine fan. Santos is a good fighter and very strong, but Alcine's chin is not very solid. Alcine had adapted his style to this, and I give Santos more credit for actually managing to land that shot than keeping Alcine down for the 10 count

How many times does he need to load up?

Not that many I'd suggest. It's not as if he'll struggle to hit Margarito. We are talking about a different level of puncher to anybody Margarito has faced, by a distance.

Who the hell is Santos in the grand scheme of things? A KO win over Alcine, a ****ing untested paper champ?

Jackson beat Graham, Tate, Norris amongst others.

If given the opportunity **** happens. That's been proven. All of those guys had poor to average chins. By all accounts Jackson did what he was supposed to do against those guys! All of them backed off and gave Jackson room to punch, full extention on his punches, full power. Margarito would do none of that ****. He would be inside of that power and he'd be peppering Jackson with punches upstairs and downstairs, all of which would wear Jackson down.

What you have to admit about this is that even if Alcine was just some paper chump (which is hindsight bull**** btw, especially from you), then Santos did what a big puncher is supposed to do, knocking the dude out with one punch. He failed to get Margarito. And even having 10lbs on him he had to rely on a bull**** stoppage (cut) to win on cards.
