I think I'm going to go against the favourite because it's more fun and I'm a boxing hipster at heart who likes to go against the narrative. And predict a Whyte stoppage in the latter half of the fight, think something like Haye vs Thomson. Where the young guy is hyped, steps up against a past it fighter, ends up gassing himself out and eventually gets taken care off by the older guy. I'm imagining Itauma having success in the beginning, even hurting Whyte, but being unable to close the show and gasses out in the process, leading to a workman like Whyte bringing himself back into the fight.
Inactive 37 year old fighter against a young ,quick up and coming prospect. For me It's a 60/40 Itauma t,I think Whyte will become frustrated by Moses speed and settle into a wide UD loss, though a stoppage is possible This fight could answer some big questions around Itauma, just how good is he? And Whyte as well, what does he have left?
I'm expecting Moses to get Whyte out of there sometime between round 1-3, possibly 4 or 5, in destructive fashion. He's too fast, too powerful, too skilled and too young but Whyte can punch and if he can weather the storm or Moses tries a more patient approach it will be very interesting to see what happens if he catches him with that left hook because it's a fight ender
The only winner is Tyson Fury After Whyte KO's Ituama in 3 rounds. Jokes aside I expect Ituama to stop Whyte mid fight
Let's see what version of Whyte we are getting before getting too excited with predictions. A recent picture posted here seems to suggest Whyte is in the best shape he's been in for years. Wonder if he's been tested recently?
I'm not sold yet on Itauma being the future of the division, although he admittedly has excellent physical tools and great raw potential. That said, I expect his superior speed and timing to put Whyte in serious trouble early. Expecting it to be over before the half-way point.
You know, as recently as a week ago I'd have said bet the house on Itauma (despite Dillian getting some stupid odds here in NZ) but since then I've seen Whyte looking in great shape and seeming to be locked in and pissed off at how written off he is. Then today I saw an interview with Moses where he said something about having a complicated relationship with roadwork that really pricked up my ears. Might explain why he's been sucking in huge lungfuls of air after a round in other fights. I still think Itauma is the favorite and rightly so, but I think Whyte's chances get better and better as the rounds progress in this one. Being a sucker for an underdog and a bit of a romantic I'll predict a KO by old man Whyte in rounds 7-8 after a furious start by the young bull who slows down significantly.
If Itauma has a glass chin Whyte's chances are high. I can't see Whyte "weathering the storm" because he has a glass one himself and he isn't young now. His best chance is to hurt Itauma early.
Yeah there is something about Itauma that I'm just not sold on yet, beyond his lack of experience i mean. And this backs up that feeling, there is something Andersonesque about him, like he said he didn't like boxing anymore but Davison convinced him that he secretly loved it. Even if he comes through Whyte unscathed, I expect this to come through in a later fight unless he changes it up.
