Kabayel is a more consistent and intelligent fighter, Ruiz is a one-hit wonder, I would always choose Kabayel regardless of Ruiz being a former champion...

    Interesting fight.
I'd lean Kabayel, but the way his hands are around his waist as he throws the body shots, say what you want about Ruiz but he'd see that and fire back up stairs.

Even a prime Andy Ruiz would not be active enough to outwork Kabayel, a fighter whose work rate is exceptionally high.

I remember that time after AJ lost where everyone was pretending Ruiz had amazing handspeed and punching and was the most experienced HW due to his incredible amateur pedigree. Ruiz was basically an obese Uysk back then, and it was hard to see how someone like AJ could be expected to beat him given AJ's lack of real boxing experience.
Seriously, that's what it was like.

    Kebabyal would likely destroy him.

Ruiz isn't a big puncher Luis Ortiz has a better chance against Kabayel

I'd lean strongly in favor of Kabayel having seen both what he can give out and take. The Andy that destroyed Joshua has nothing for that.

    Kabayel is a body puncher

Ruiz has a lot of body

Yeap, I remember it too. Recency bias happens all the time here, but that was one of the most vivid examples.

Kabayel would've stopped him and it wouldn't have been particularly competitive

Great fight. Both are great inside fighters with fast hands. Both determined and fearless. Love it.
Ruiz with a clear power advantage, but it’s so hard to pick against Kabayel. Dunno. I could see Ruiz hurting him if they go toe to toe on the inside.
    excellent match

Kabayel’s body shots will be risky for him here, he’s gonna leave himself open for a lightning-fast counter hook to the temple anytime he opens up.

I think it would be a really good stylistic match-up whom either style could really be a factor here. With Kabayel's bodywork to Ruiz's hand speed in his prime we are talking though.

I just don't think Ruiz has the footwork to stay away from the bodywork in the end, Kabayel's bodywork is truly sickening especially towards the later rounds, and they just hurt so f*****g much even to watch.

Late Kabayel KO. But, Ruiz could counter him badly at somepoint as Kabayel does have a fairly suspect chin and defence.

Ruiz was a handy top 20 guy who struck gold against AJ, doesn't have the consistency or discipline to beat someone as technically sound as Kabayel.
